It's mainly because Nissan tends to be looser in financing.

How did it become synonymous with reckless driving, bad credit, and memes?

I bought my wife an Altima right after our first was born in 2001. Keep it until our second was born in 2008 when we traded it on a Quest minivan.
I can’t remember exactly, but that Altima had well north of 200K when we got rid of it. It still holds the record of being the longest she’s kept a vehicle.

i notice they posted the most generic 'non offensive to anyone except nissan' meme in that article.
they were so close to being over the target then they ran like chicken shits from reaching the obvious conclusion of altima demographics.

Because of their owners?

If a car lasts, it lasts. I thought that's one of the main things people look for when they buy a vehicle? Seems these Altima's are built to last. I had a 2006 Altima and that thing ran great.
Kind of off topic, but I do wish the manual gear box would make a return in a big way.

But with that being said, there also are some trashy poor white people who haven't exactly helped Nissan's reputation either.
No cap. Altimas are also big in the “my son Aiden is my king” crowd.

Sadly they are still great cars minus their damn CVT. I have owned several, all going easily over 200k. Only issue has been my current one with a dead cvt which Nissan paid for half the repair.
Other than that, my current one has about 180,000 miles and not a single thing is broken or not working. Does not burn or leak a drop of oil and still averaging 33.6ish mpg.
If they dump the cvt, I would buy another one in a heart beat. Same exact 2.5 liter they used back in mid 90s. Bullet proof engine.

They last a long time, so there are a lot of cheap ones available. This is actually a compliment to Nissan, but it comes off as a negative.

The Oldsmobile Cutlass was the first Altima.
