The statue is plenty controversial and people have been calling for it's removal for quite some time. There's an interesting story behind it.
"The statue was constructed by Bulgarian sculptor Emil Venkov (1937–2017) under a 1981 commission from the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia.[1][2][3] While following the bounds of his commission, Venkov intended to portray Lenin as a bringer of revolution, in contrast to the traditional portrayals of Lenin as a philosopher and educator.[4] Venkov intended the statue to function as a critique of communism and depict Lenin as a violent man, with abstract rifles and flames on the statue, in contrast to the traditional depiction of Lenin holding a book.[5]"
Was discovered in a scrap heap and purchased by an American.

The left has the media, academia, corporations and most government agencies in their corner. They're allowed to run rampant in major cities across the country destroying businesses and attacking people with impunity, but hey, the right says some means things too.

Its the fact that they are going to refuse to work together no matter what. The only guys that are reasonable like Rand Paul and Joe Manchin get shut out by the establishments of their respective parties. Career politicians aren't interested in doing what their constituents want them to do.

That’s as far as I took it. I was comparing two events in history, not the time periods as a whole.
