Watch the video guys.
The 5 round block has a propellant and a primer. It's not an air gun or a rail gun.
Where it's different from a normal gun, is that an electromagnetic pulse ignites the primer. Think of wirelessly charging your cell phone - same idea.
Rounds aren't loaded with a bolt. There are no moving parts.
The block is the "chamber", the ammunition, and the magazine all in one.
While no moving parts should make it reliable, I'm concerned about the electric part.
I'm also concerned about the weight of the gun's 5 barrels.
Practically, it's a people killer. Meant for wartime abuse in harsh conditions, can be used as a rifle, or a long-range shotgun.
I'm curious how the blocks stack together and how fluidly they eject and reload. This strikes me as being somewhat similar to the stripper clips for the M1. I wonder if it's POW POW POW POW POW *clunk* POW POW...*clunk*.

I've read before where, usually leftist, people think an AR can shoot 900 rounds a minute. Even if you are the fastest reloader there is, you have to reload every 2 seconds with 30 round mags. Or if they try to use a 100 rd barrel, more than likely you will cause some form of a jam.
Not to mention if you shot 900 rounds in a minute it would be so hot it might catch fire

Yea I have seen some videos where they belt fed both ARs and AKs until the point they caught fire/melted. Pretty insane.

No way we see this in mass qtys in our lifetime. Nice idea, though.

It's one barrel with 4 or 5 bores. It weighs less than an m16.

I shoot real guns
ETA: I will say some of the sniper videos of airsoft war games are pretty insane.

Rounds per minute is just a standard of measuring current speed at the moment it is observed. When a cop pulls you over for speeding does he ask you what your average speed has been over the past hour to guage your miles per hour or does he write you a ticket for going 80 miles per hour at the instant he observed you in a 60mph zone?

Difference though: If you drive for an hr at 80 miles an hour, you are going to go 80 miles. Even if your fire rate between rounds is 900 rounds per minute, you still aren't getting anywhere NEAR 900 rounds after the minute.

A military version is being developed for the army. It's going to be mass produced.

I get your claim. But how do you not understand it is possible to go 80 miles per hour without traveling 80 miles in an hour. The ability to sustain a speed for the base unit of measure doesn't take away from the fact that you are still at the moment achieving that speed. An M4 fires at a speed of more like 600 rounds per minute. Would it make you feel better if we reduced that fraction to rounds per second and said it shoots 10 rounds per second? It's the same thing. And I think you can agreed that an M4 can fire for 1 second straight.

I get what you are saying too. My point is that a car can sustain that speed for the duration when an AR cannot. Saying an AR shoots 900 rounds a minute is disingenuous and a lie. Yes, if you can find a way to belt feed and keep the gun cool could you fire 900 rounds? Maybe. The article I am referring to though was basically a trash article trying to vilify the weapon.

I think his point is that people that don't know any better think that if you give someone an AR they can put 900 rounds down range in a minute, which simply isn't true.

It's just a measurement. It's how automatic weapons are rated. It's been this way for a long time and it's going to always be this way.

I realize it's used as a measure, but you have people that try to use that measure to vilify the weapon and convince others that you can actually shoot that many rounds in a minute. I've come in contact with people that think with a bump stock you can actually fire 900 rounds in a minute and will argue against me when I tell them how it really works.
