My parents taught me that color of skin should NEVER result in a difference of how I treat someone. I should treat them based on their behaviors, attitude, etc, but their skin color should never enter into the situation.

I truly believe this is what Dr. King wanted.

But lately, it seems the game has changed. Now, we are SUPPOSED to treat people of color differently. We are supposed to recognize their past struggles, and we are supposed to treat them BETTER than white people, to make up for those past struggles.

Equality is no longer the correct word, now, it's all about "equity" - treating people differently to make up for past transgressions. Essentially, we have to assume that all black people are inferior, in order to provide them additional resources to make them no longer inferior, to catch them up.

I just can't get my mind to think that way - that we are supposed to treat people differently based on the color of their skin.

It's not just twitter... it's all social media, it's regular media, it's people talking at the gym or at dinner, at the office, etc.

You and me must run in different circles, then. Because it's totally infected the circles I am in.

Maybe I need to find new circles...

In the real world, I treat everyone with equal amounts of respect. I also make judgments of people based off of their appearances and actions.

None of its about race.

Treating equally now will get you called racist real quick. Don’t interact with black people the same way you’d interact with a white person in the same situation or you’re racist.

But if you dont interact with them the same way, youre a racist.

So i just avoid those types of situations all together.

White liberals can often be the most racist as they treat minorities(especially black people) like they are completely incompetent and need white liberals them to “white knight” for them.

White people are the only people that can't treat races outside of their own differently

it's completely idiotic that we have the concept of race based on color of skin in the first place. the sole reason we have "race" is to control people by dividing people.

We have a society that has empowered the offended. In my real world interactions with people, I don't see what you are describing in the op, but on social media and the news it is prevalent. People are chasing power, a story old as time. It's just that power now comes in the form of victim status.

Look, I hate to play the I'm black card, but most of this stuff is stirred up online and in the media (both sides).

In my day to day interactions I cannot say anyone I know or myself have expressed wanting "special accommodations ". Everyone I know just wants to be able to go along and live their life.

Now, there are always assholes, but do not confuse the vocal minority for the majority (both sides).

Every damn day, as you live your life people of all races and religions interact, date, play, and everything else with zero issues. However we ignore that because it doesnt fit the narrative that is being pushed on us (by both sides).

I could go on and on, but dont buy the hype.

I've got some pretty liberal circles

I have a feeling this is just a situation where the 1 or 2 of the loudest in your circle are like this, and you have extrapolated it to society as a whole

Don't do that
