Lack of Turkish Muslims invading your Capitol in the 1400's for starters. The West certainly had their fare share of invaders, but they tended to be Christians like the Vandals and Visigoths. So when they invaded, they were not about trying to convert.

But more to the point. The Roman Church has always been more organized administratively than the East with the Pope as defacto emperor. RCC is very much modeled after the old Roman imperial administration.

I know that's what they claim, but naah, I don't believe that.

It was a common practice during the 1700s and 1800s to claim credit for pre-existing grand structures. Whomever became the new occupiers of buildings and cities structures probably cleaned them up some, spackled, slapped coats of paint on them, and claimed, "Hey Future Historians -- we just rebuilt this and that exterior! It was falling down, so..."

This cathedral is absolutely ANCIENT. I think they're afraid that if we knew the actual truth, our minds would be blown.

Jesus: "Sell all that you have give it to the poor and follow me....Lay not up treasures on Earth...Don't make graven images.."

It’s a building

The church is the people

quote:

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

1 Corinthians 3:16

quote:

As Jesus left the temple and was walking away, His disciples came up to Him to point out its buildings.

“ Do you see all these things?” He replied. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”

Matthew 24:1-2

quote:

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

John 4:23

quote:

When Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He yielded up His spirit. At that moment the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split.

Matthew 27:50-51

Christ’s Church is not in a building, nor an organization, or a denomination. It is in the hearts of those who have believed solely upon Jesus as their savior, and none other, not a church, denomination, leader, tradition, or themselves.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Absolutely true.

And more to your point(s), Constantine held three titles: Pontiff. Emperor. Pope. Nice gig.

Here is St. Petersburg, Russa.

Check out that church. God only knows how old it really is.

It can’t be older than 325 years because Tsar Peter the Great designed and built St. Petersburg from the ground up in the early 1700’s and made it the new capital city of Russia.

At times, but I do have a church home as well, and I believe in being part of a church body, but that’s not where my relationship, salvation, or walk is.
