Vino's
On W. 7th in Little Rock..great pizzas and decent beers.
I was in there one afternoon a few years ago and about a dozen bikers come rolling up to the door. They all walk in and take off their helmets-a lesbian biker gang! Had some nice conversation with several of them-they were pretty cool chicks.

Anchor closed up shop a few weeks ago.

In 2019, Anchor Brewing workers voted by an almost 2-to-1 margin to join the International Longshore and Warehouse Union making Anchor Brewing – including Anchor Public Taps, the brewery's on-site brew pub – the first unionized craft brewery in the United States.[33] The three-year union contract was officially ratified in 2020, providing workers with increased wages, health insurance, and other benefits.
lol
Unionize and end the company

1919?
Have I been living under a rock or is that just a highly localized thing?

Choc Beer was born out of a pretty nasty work accident. Pietro Piegari was forced into early retirement from the coal mines when his legs were crushed on the job, so to make ends meet, he started brewing Choctaw or “choc” beer in his home. It was such a hit with the miners that Pietro (who went by Pete) opened Pete’s Place in 1925 to serve food alongside the brews. Wily old Pete even continued brewing on the sly through Prohibition, a move that earned him two jail terms. The family continued slipping the stuff to regulars for decades, until brewpubs finally became legal in OK again in 1995.
The same family brews Prairie Artisan Ales. If you like stouts, seek a Prairie Bomb. 14% ABV, highly rated but one bottle hits like a full meal..

Beer is a way of life (and death) in the upper Midwest

I feel like there aren't many maps like this where the east coast is newer than the west coast. I imagine there were many breweries older that shut down. Wonder why none back east had staying power relative to west and midwest.

We used to get their stuff in Dallas but I haven't seen it in a while. I think they had a connection to Prairie brewing before the Prairie brothers that started Prairie sold the brewery.
ETA: So the brothers that started Prairie actually used Chocs (Krebs) equipment for a while. When the brothers decided to see, Kebs bought them out. The brothers started American Solera in Tulsa and its turned into a decent size brewery.

Dixie is the only beer I legitimately couldn't finish a 6-pack of because it's so bad.
The name was the only thing good about that beer.

Used to have some good beers in LA. Falstaff and Jax were very popular from the 40’s to the 70’s.

Funny that most of the states are relatively recent.
Thank God that's over.
