No way in hell anyone should be doing dumb shite like that when you have a family. That really is a selfish thing to do. Some things you have to just say "Ah, the good ol days..."

I agree 100%. Dude had a child and a pregnant wife and still chose to go spelunking. Then, he decided to be the first one going through the "birth canal".

How crazy was Columbus to sail off into uncharted territory looking for the new world?

I agree with your other points, but this is factually incorrect.

Fair enough. It wasn't my best example. Columbus was looking for a direct westward route to Asia and in doing so he "discovered" the New World. But my overall point remains. It's worth noting, again, that the original guy we were talking about is a dumbass, though.

I went into a cave on a ranch near Kerrville. Big pit in a pasture, and you had go climb down to a hole that you could crawl through. It was not a tight squeeze. Then, it opened into a bigger room with some flowing water in it and tall ceiling. It was very cool and not at all claustrophobic. There were bats flying, however.

I would not do it again because of the bats.

At VPI the guys in the "cave club" were having the best times and were as close friends as any frat could be. They mapped caves all over their part of the state.
A boyfriend of mine from a different college had been a caver, and stopped when he saw that a huge boulder had shifted significantly in a two week period one fine fall day. That sort of changed my mind about caving.

Don’t remember this, but I remember that Asian soccer team getting trapped and they got them out, but a rescuer died. F caving.

This thread pops up several times a year on here. Always ends up sending me down some wiki and YouTube rabbit holes.

It’s fascinating and terrifying at the same time (more more terrifying).

Did you know that if you find a previously undiscovered cave you get to name it?

F that. I start heavy breathing when I have to crawl into the crawl space below the house.

Idk climbing into holes in the ground seems pretty primitive.

Never going to go crawling around in a cave. That is nightmare fuel.

Ok. Well then rope around his feet and other to a winch. Needle of pain killers and go!! The alternative is death so I would say go for it.

I remember reading the thread on here about this. I'm extremely claustrophobic, I would never do anything like this.
