Breaking News. The fattest country on Earth has fatties everywhere. Film at 11.

Some of the prettiest girls I’ve ever seen on Beacon Street when the universities starting back up in the fall. Beautifully dressed, beautiful skin & hair. That was about 15 years ago.

And everybody is always in a bad mood there as well. Probably because it sucks to live there.
My experience in traveling there and with folks I know from the NE is that they think it's weird for us to be so happy all the time. They think our smiles and manners are totally fake and don't understand why people speak and say hi to folks they don't know.
Perfect example: My daughter's roommate (no pics) is from north of Pittsburgh. Before they started PT school in Nashville, they took a trip to look for an apt and met there. They were walking on the campus and a middle aged man was walking near them and started conversation, weather, normal chit chat stuff. My daughter talked to him a bit while walking. Then of course, they went different ways and her roommate said, "That guy was so weird. Why was he talking to us like that?" My daughter is like...well, that's normal. He wasn't creepy, just like dad or professor vibes. They're just weird up there!

Yes, they do think it’s fake. A relative of mine by marriage figured it out at the very end of her life.

I've lived in Texas for over 30 years. That flag is definitely more than where you're from. I love it here, but that flag is most definitely a symbol of a mentality of the Texans.
And whoever said Texas is part of the south is completely wrong. Texas is it's own thing and quite different from the rest of the south.

You clearly have no idea what 3rd world means.

Do you think South Louisiana is culturally the same as South Carolina? I've never understood this argument from Texans.

Midwest and the Great Plains people have a lot in common with Southerners. We're mostly country folk who are engaging with strangers.
It's why you LSU folk have such a good time in Omaha and we like having you up here every year.
Been to Boston a few times and thought it was great. I struck up conversations with quite a few people while bar hopping and they seemed just as engaging and normal as people back home. I think that may have been out of curiosity though as my Dakoooota/Minnesoooota accent surely stuck out in Baaahston.
There are cool people everywhere and there are crappy people everywhere. I do think that the congestion of the Northeast causes people there to be more suspicious of others, that people always have an angle and are phony or trying to sell you something, and they have less patience.

Yeah, state lines don't do a good job identifying the South. It's better to use interstates:
I-64 which runs through Virginia Beach, Richmond, Charleston WV, Lexington, Louisville, Evansville and St. Louis is the northern border and the areas surrounding it are "brackish".
I-44 which bisects through southern Missouri and Oklahoma and turns into I-35 separating east Texas is the Western border. Adjacent areas are also "brackish".
That's a better representation than using state lines.
Also, lop off south Florida, LOL.

She also claimed that NYC is the most segregated school system in the country (again, may or may not be true). If that is true, it's relatively easy to understand why.

Do you not understand the difference between segregated city and segregated school system? Is there really no distinction in your mind?
Look, I get why you have such a vested interest in this. Like a lot of Southerners, you think that Yankees spend a significant portion of their day thinking about Southerners and calling them ignorant and racist. So, you latch on to something that shows racism/segregation up North as some sort of gotcha. I get it. It's borderline extreme paranoia, but I get it.
How do you think a school system gets segregated? Well, it can get that way by affirmatively segregating, which is illegal, and for which court sanctions have been in place for decades. It can also get that way by parents with the means removing their kids from the public school system because they see that the resources are not being used to educate their children.
