Reason 1402 to move the eff away from south LA. Shifted 500 miles Southeast.

The strength of the tornados in the supposed new alley lacks the oomph of Oklahoma and North Alabama tornados.

Here's every documented tornado during the time period of your graphic. Show me a "safe" place to move.

The largest tornado on record was just over two miles wide. Even in the "new tornado alley" the odds of any given location being directly impacted by a tornado are incredibly low. There are only a couple of places in the country that I legitimately wouldn't consider living solely based on tornado activity, and I live pretty damn close to one of them.

*Edited because the first image didn't load completely before I took the screenshot. The new image is even "worse".

Our town in NE AL has been hit by an EF5 (2011) and an EF3 (2024) in the last 13 years. Not to mention multiple EF1s, including one in my back yard. Sand Mountain Magic is real.

Purple is (E)F5.

The original image I posted hadn't loaded all of them before I took the screenshot.

That looks like more of a central Ms issue than south La.

All you need to know is that those are the paths of every recorded tornado between the years of 1986 and 2020, and that the "warmer" the color the stronger the tornado.

Skip Bertman was on to something.

More improvements are due for Starkville.

Yeah, I can't recall in my lifetime ever having one of those town leveling tornadoes in South LA like you see in Kansas, Northern Alabama etc.

The area is capable of producing those type tornadoes, it just doesn't happen very often. There have been (E)F4 tornadoes in the area, and a good number of (E)F3s, some of those are retroactive ratings, being that they occured prior to the Fujita scale being implemented. I don't think there has ever been an (E)F5 in state history.

Brownsville, Texas. Phoenix, Arizona.

I lived in Edmond, Oklahoma for three years. That was long enough.

Actually it looks like south LA is fine. It’s more north LA according to your picture/graph.

I've been told for years that Jackson has more verified tornadoes than any other city in America. Can't verify because I don't care enough to look out up but that's what the locals up there have told me.
