The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans’ meter reading team is experiencing severe staff shortages because of the COVID-19 pandemic. While very few employees have tested positive for COVID-19, several additional employees had direct contact with them and are now under precautionary quarantine.

Ordinarily I’d give the municipality a pass, but with this group I’m sure things will get even more foiled up than they already are.

If they ever did a true outside audit of the s&wb, I’d imagine the money people are likely being bilked out of would be astronomical

Give them a raise before the firemen, again.

Funny how they’re getting precautionary quarantined, but the firemen who are actually exposed everyday to positive patients are forced into work by McConnell and Latoya. Clowns.

Just estimate how much you think your bill should be and send them that.

Did I ever tell you about the time I stole a NO S&WB Meter cover?

Filled the hole with gravel after I took it.

Maybe I already told you....

Is it funny? Seems like common sense that it's less important to have S&WB readers on the job than firefighters.

My meter reader walked by my house yesterday talking on the phone. Didn't see him stop anywhere to pull a meter cover.

Maybe they are wireless now.

I'm surprised NO still uses meter readers. I live in BFE and we had the auto meters that upload the readings to their system installed across the county a couple years ago.
I guess that is expecting too much, though.

If he was walking and talking, I'd imagine the phone was wireless.

Why not just let customers “estimate” what they owe?

Isn’t?

So when there aren’t any more firemen because they all test positive then what?

How about protect your medical responders with proper gear, and quarantine the ones who are exposed. So when there’s a fire, like the 9 in the last 3 days, you have enough to safely work. Just my opinion though, what do I know?!?

If several employees are quarantined then who’s doing the billing and estimating and then who’s going to issue the credits and straighten out the billing once things get back to normal?

They can’t get their shite right in normal times.
