You couldn't get past beach scenes, a smoking hot woman, and some light guitar?

Yeah this was a big deal back in 2017. Amazing that it's held the spot.

And it's not even the Bieber remix.

No way this is true

I've never heard of it or seen it, believe it or not. Still haven't, either, because I didn't click the link.

How much revenue is generated from all of those views?

Based on 7.3 billion views:

quote:

YouTube’s current estimate on per-stream royalty rates is around $0.0007 per play. Hence, Despacito has earned an average of up to $29.2 million based on the current views. On Spotify, the payout ranges from $0.006 to $0.0084. The original version currently has about 1.1 billion, while the Bieber remix has 1.3 billion streams. Therefore, it has accumulated approximately 5 million and 5.2 million respectively. Adding both YouTube’s and Spotify’s revenue, we are looking at around 40 million in earnings.

I refuse to believe there are people who have "never heard this song." It was at the top of the charts for months, played on every radio station and at every restaurant by every busker. You have to live under a rock to have never heard it.

guess i live under a rock.
It doesn't play on prime country, or 104.5, and if i heard it somewhere out in public, i probably dind't pay attention to it b/c it wasn't in english.

I think the Charlie video got sold fairly early on.

Alot of Youtubers don't own their most popular videos, at least their first few that went viral. The Hydraulic Press guy sold his paper folding video, the first one of his that went viral, to help fund his channel and pay off some school debts. It has 26 million views and is still on his channel, but he said in an interview that they sold the rights to it early on.

First time I've ever heard it. I listen to real country music and classic/Southern rock and I don't speak Spanish.

Went search youtube for the video with most views. Found it to be Baby Shark and accidentally let it play. FML.

I don't think it was that big in Louisiana.

As long as it’s not a video by Justin Bieber

I'm almost certain that Justin Bieber is on this song. I remember some news about him not being able to sing it live because it's all in Spanish and he doesn't know the words to his part without the lyrics in front of him.

It was pretty popular with white folks in Louisiana. It played at football games, parties, on 102.5/94.5/104.1, etc

But I'm sure it was far more popular in Texas, SoCal, and so on.
