The Most Influential Car of the 1980s Was an EV, and Only 15 Inches Long
Team Associated's RC10 launched in 1984 and helped usher in the golden age of radio-controlled (RC) cars.
Car and Driver

I randomly think of the late 80s and early 90s RC cars and remember how fun it was. Any other baws into this back in the day? Or hell even still?

I used to work at a hobby shop when I was in middle school for store credit. It unfortunately evolved into an expensive affinity for fast full sized cars.

If you are going with an EV in the 80s, it has to be the GM EV1

I think you’re taking the articles title a little too seriously.

I wasn’t a loyalist. I had a couple Associated and a Losi. The rc10ds with the nitro engine was a favorite though. It was fun AF.

I had a Red Arrow and my friend had a Golden Arrow from Radio Shack. I did get tired of having to charge them after 20 minutes of fun.

And then in the 90s we slapped ICE engines on them to go faster.

The gas ones were more fun and my favorite but the electric ones were a lot faster. The gas clutches were pretty inefficient and they only had a .15ci engine.

Delorean

Delorean didn’t influence anything. The first Taurus with the stream lined look changed cars from being boxes on wheels.
