The more you know about EV the more you wonder if we were really ready for this change.

I love all the new tech for power. Love solar lights, love the idea of electric cars, think windmills are useless though.

That said, the more I see about electric vehicle the more I question their readiness and the pending disaster about to happen that will destroy future progress in this field as people become bitter about the current reality.

Solar lights are awesome, reasonably priced and work really well.

But EVs? replacement batteries are $30,000. LINK

The grid is not ready for them see California LINK

And much like the windmills and dumping them in the desert to leak into the ground for centuries, (Not to mention their bird killing affect) the recycling issue is not clear or remotely truthful regarding the batteries.

I just wanna know how the poor folk who drive a 90s Camry is gonna be able to afford a new EV and then afford to have a home charger installed at their rental home/apartment

It's Biden's claim to fame:

Kennedy - We will have a man on the moon before the end of the decade

Al Gore - I invented the internet

Biden - We will have all electric cars by 2030

No shite.

We are decades maybe even more away from even being close. Would probably get there faster if all energy sectors were allowed to work together and not forced to do things based on ridiculous climate change nonsense

It’s not that harnessing new forms of energy is bad, it’s that these idiots are demonizing and trying to shut down the energy that WORKS (and provides products for all the rest) in the name of their religion.

Especially in your example, those 90s Camrys will run forever.

It doesnt matter if we're ready or if it actually makes sense... it's about shoving this shite down our throats because of global war...i mean climate change.

It’s okay, China just reached an all time record output from their coal plants and will continue to grow their coal powered industry in the coming decades.

Nothing we do here matters

I don't really have an issue with the tech and EV progression.

My biggest issue is that it's being forced on us and shoved down our throats when it's quite clear that we're no where near ready for it. I wish they'd just let the progression happen naturally instead of forcing it.

The material used for EV batteries is largely controlled by our geopolitical and economic enemy (China).
Also, the mining processes needed to get the materials are ecologically destructive.

This EV push is destructive to middle class America in so many ways.

A grid that can't handle heavy a/c usage is supposed to charge literally millions of electric cars?
Most Americans will be priced out.

They want you concentrated in cities, using public transportation, and dependent on centralized authority.

Welcome to the Great Reset

shite, a total restore probably costs less than a replacement EV battery

What's really going to be hilarious is when the environmental impact of mining for battery production, battery disposal issues and the realization of greater fossil fuel use to power the added power load hits the braindead greenies who are clapping like seals over this "revolution". Then, I guess, we'll be pushing the rickshaw movement and forcing people into metros at gunpoint to fuel it.

Lefties will one day realize they ARE LITERALLY Hitler.

EVs are a convenience for those who can afford it, for city travel.

And not just afford the car. Afford solar panels to power it and your home during outages.

We aren't close to where it needs to be to become viable for the masses.
Mandating it like California, is insane. But these are the same folks who mandated Covid jabs.

Just about every "green" energy is actually worse for the environment than traditional energy sources except coal. When you account for production and transportation of materials.

I have to find the article but over 90% of solar farms have been installed in previous AG or forest areas, the two land types that are being developed the fastest btw. The heavy metal leaching from these farms will render that soil useless and not to mention there are no remediation or reclamation statues so the financial burden will fall to the land owner for cleanup. We are watching a environmental catastrophe unfolding before our eyes on our most valuable and least available habitat and land.

EV's are going to have to become far less expensive with a massively expanded EV charging network.

We just aren't there.

This country and economy is being crippled, and yet all anyone can focus on is EV. This in and of itself clearly demonstrates just how horrific the leadership in this country truly is, as well as how absurdly ignorant those who support these people really are. I mean, don’t underestimate the stupidity. That would be a mistake. They are more than capable of doubling down on what they’ve already done in electing these bad people into power.
