I retired from The Mall of Louisiana when the food court started to look like Picadilly/Luby's.

I haven't been to Mall of LA in a couple of years, so I can't really talk about that... but I would be surprised if it's as bad as y'all say it is.
My wife drags me to Lakeside once a month or so on a weekend and it's a perfectly fine mall, good crowds, no hoodrats just hanging around, etc.
Also I usually end up at Memorial City Mall in Houston a couple of times of year, same thing.
But if the first floor of Mall of LA is all shoe stores, then yeah, it's going to attract the "hang out" demographic.

Being dirt-poor newlyweds in the 80’s living on the east coast with a half a dozen huge malls in a quick driving distance... It was great to have those places to spend a Saturday afternoon pushing the kids around in strollers.

people come just to walk around and try to show off because they think they look good in their cool clothes

Space Port was full of the cool cats

If you want to see a really great mall, stop at Northgate in Lafayette. Conveniently located near I10.

I go weekly to eat at the food court. I’ll grab a cup of coffee and sit there for a few hours. I enjoy people watching and surfing TD while I’m there. Makes for a nice afternoon.
Do you go up to every dude and ask them for a picture of their wife?

I don’t even know what this means. The Lubys in my area stays crowded with old white people and the church crowd on Sundays. Is that what the food court looks like?

Prefer my shopping centers to look like this.

I can't figure out why.
So glad they annexed themselves into the city of BR.

They should turn the whole mall into an indoor paintball battlefield

Hell, I noticed ten years ago that even stores like Macy's and Dillards (at the time) carried mostly fashions that cater to a certain demographic. It's why I stopped going to the mall to look for clothes.
If you're in the mood for putting together an outfit to shoot a hip/hop video, you're at the right place at Mall of Louisiana.

The second floor is shoe stores. Some on first. The whole same place sells shoes.
The first floor is a lot of foreign people selling stuff at those booths. They are just standing in the middle hounding people to try a product sample. It is a glorified flea market.

Want a new appreciation for the mall?
My friend is in town with his fiancée from Israel (Jerusalem). She’d never seen a big supermarket with all of the options for things that we have, and she had never seen a mall like that.
Her reaction taking her to the mall was so awesome. Entirely in shock. She practically fell over at the sight of a store for only popcorn, a store for only sunglasses, etc.

They’re being dramatic. I don’t like the mall much either but it is not all shoe stores

Honestly if you pay attention when you’re there they are trying to combat the loitering. It got bad a few years ago and then they upped security big time. The last few times I’ve been it’s been better. That’s what will drive shoppers away that actually spend money.

I think I counted 20 different stores that sold shoes the last time I was there. No one is saying it is ALL shoe stores but it is a lot.
