In all my 62 years neither myself, anybody in my immediate family or anybody I know has ever has a house call from a doctor. My great grandfather was a doctor in Colfax in the 30's-50's and my dad used to drive him to house calls. When did they end? Have you or anyone you know been visited by a doc at home?

There are concierge docs popping up that do them now.

I'd like a doctor that is well enough to drive himself, please.

I saw a movie where a lady doctor made a house call to a sick patient. They had the sex and he seemed all better.

I was. In like 4th grade. Had a spinal tap. Nobody at the hospital told my parents that I couldn't get right up. Was sick for a solid week. Doc came by and checked on me. Of course, this was like 1975.

Scruffy’s old family doc made house calls all the time.

Helped that he was Scruffy’s cousin though.

During cold and flu season, there's usually at least one MD/NP/PA that advertises that they'll come to you, check you out, give you medicine that will help what you have, give you an IV if necessary, and bring some soup, pedialyte, etc. so you don't have to leave home.

Vegas definitely has hangover docs that'll show up to your hotel room, and hang a banana bag for you. It costs hundreds of dollars. Nobody's ever going to write a hit T.V. show about them, but they've gotta be making bank just pumping people full of vitamins and fluids.

Also, concierge medicine is a pretty rapidly growing service that doctors are beginning to offer as patient counts go up and revenue per patient goes down.

My brother and I had the German Measles - about 1954. Mom called our family doctor and he asked if it would be ok if he just came to see us. He saw us at home. Within a few days our sisters got them too. Mom had all of us sick at the same time.

One of my padnahs is a surgeon.

When the little Füts were youngins and under the weather, he made a couple of house calls.

Not for profit.

But I did

Profit

I'm 65 and have never had a Dr. pass through any of the doors of houses I've lived in to make a house call on a patient.

Now, we do have one Dr. in our extended family and she will come by, but it's always for a party we are hosting and not on a professional basis.

Scruffy does out-calls. Only costs 100 roses, too.
