I didn't even know that engine was a thing until I saw it in our fleet.

I want one. Bad. That engine is what Ford's ecoboost needed to be. That dodge in our fleet is lifted and gets 20+ mpg on the interstate. My dad's ecoboost doesn't do that well.

My father makes it from Morgan City to Dandridge, Tn on one tank of diesel (750ish miles). highway driving my eco boost will get around 600 miles on a full tank (36 gallons). Even with the delete on the ram it is still lacking power though. My eco boost is a rocket ship compared to the eco diesel. In these times I know most people don't worry about that, but when I want to pass someone I don't want a truck that falls on it's face.

don't think that can all be blamed on DEF.
Dude you have gotten worked over pretty hard in this thread by people that deal with this shite every day and aren't relying on Google for their arguments. But if waving your 5% flag makes happy you then just ignore everyone laughing at you

Farmers rely on tractors, tractors run on diesel

Almost all farmers use off road diesel which doesn’t bur as clean. Is DEF also used in off road diesel? I don’t know I’m just asking

My dad gets 13 mpg in Baton Rouge, 17 on the highway. Ecoboost ain't worth it. I get better than that in my 20 year old Tahoe.

The guy that drives our eco diesel gets 27mpg on trips.

Yes I believe if an engine is 100 hp or higher def is required in new equipment.

I just took mine on vacation, drove almost 2000 miles. Vast majority i went about 85 and i got 24mpg, and i haven't done the delete yet

This is bullshite. I've had 3 trucks 07 with first 6.7 with dpf, an 18 with Def and now. 21 with Def.

All deleted, none of them got that before or after delete, definitely not at 85.

Off-road Diesel engines are subject to Tier 4 emissions standards. The only ones that are not subject to these standards are very small Diesel engines.

You're not following the conversation. It's an ecodiesel engine that Chrysler put in the Ram 1500. It's a small V6 diesel. Badass engine.

If you a warranty and are caught not using DEF, you better hope nothing happens and the dealership figures it out

I’ve got a 3.0 in my truck and I love it. Pulls like a V8 and sips fuel like a sedan. Not going to set any new quarter mile records with it but it does everything I ask it to perfectly.

I’d imagine they’d know as soon as they connect to the engine ECM and don’t see any regen events logged recently.

I have a F-150 diesel. It’s deleted, gets 26 - 28 driving on the interstate.

Seems to contradict his point pretty clearly.

Except it's wrong and one of the major drawbacks is the fuel economy penalty. If you had more of an IQ and the ability to do more than 1st page Google results you'd know that SCR systems are notoriously unreliable. Truckers are often spending thousands of dollars and huge amounts of downtime while their truck is in the shop awaiting a critical sensor for these systems. They are failure prone, inefficient, and accomplish nothing practical except justify the jobs of EPA bureaucrats.

I really should have not divested from my previous company that I spent a shite ton of time buying up EPA flex credits to make sure they didn't have DEF equipped units. They're about to crush it.

They'll also be able to see the massive space ship of shite missing under the truck pretty easily....

Not to mention that all modern ECMs log recal events and they cannot be erased. If you wanted to get away with it bad enough you could do it, but it would take substantially more effort than just refreshing the truck.

Badass engine.

On paper, in reality they are plagued by issues and even with perfect maintenance can struggle to make 100k without complete failure.

Here's another "they don't accomplish anything" argument. Seems like it would be easy to post something that backs this argument up, yet no one has done so yet.
