Treehouse on the 405S freeway. He just needs a balcony to enjoy the view.

BTW, a good follow on Twitter to see how bad it is there is @streetpeopleLA. Not linking because there are NSFW videos of insane naked homeless people in the feed but also plenty of videos of the camps they make and those same camps catching fire from crack pipes and such.

Humans are insanely adaptable. It's why we've managed to stay alive this long.

Also a good history of mental illness and/or drug abuse helps.

Go watch some videos on the Twitter feed I mentioned. A ton of it is obviously drugs but there is something different driving some of the newly homeless in CA and that is some younger people would rather be homeless than work. A lot of those are going to Venice Beach from out of state. I will see if I can find the video but they are literally building a community there instead of taking part in a functioning society.

I didnt either till I started watching Soft White Underbelly , I still dont fully understand why people end up living that way, but most of the people had really shitty childhoods.

This dude interviews a lot of drug abusers, pimps, hos.... mostly from skid row. Some of them got dealt a really shitty hand from early on life being raped, molested and beaten as kids. Start on drugs to fit in, then end up getting hooked to escape reality and end up living on the street. Some just dont know any other way.

All jokes aside, that is pretty awesome (if you're a homeless person). I wonder if he sits in there on his cardboard box throne looking down at disgust at the people beneath him.

This guy built a whole hut on the sidewalk with a BBQ pit in front. I wonder if he BBQs on Saturday morning as people are walking around his front porch

He could probably AirBNB that place for $200 per night

Seems like he's lost his "homeless" status. What is he called now, transient? Vagabond? Poor?

anyone else notice that tent site off in the corner of the field on the north side of i-10 visible from the Highland overpass? I think there used to be a building blocking it from view. now it's just there for all to see.

That decision is obviously driven by drug-induced paranoia.

Its 90% mental illness/substance abuse

But some of them just enjoy the lifestyle for whatever reason.

The percentage that is homeless because they lost their job and have “fallen on hard times” is basically 0
