He is responsible for the most quotable movie one liners than any single person in Hollywood history. I would bet 90% of American men over 60 could quote 3-4 lines just from his movies being brought up in conversation.

I got to sit as his table for dinner at this resort in the Bahamas maybe :25 years ago. My girlfriend was native Bahamian and family had been for several generations. He was so funny, had the whole table in stitches. Was also really cool, didn’t hog the spotlight and seemed genuinely interested in what we all did.

During the war, Mel Brooks heard German units singing in the distance. He grabbed a megaphone and blasted out singing "Toot Toot Tootsie, Goodbye". When he finished, the Germans were applauding and celebrating. That guy has made a lot of people laugh.

A lot of people don’t realize that for late boomers and Gen X kids comedy like Blazing Saddles, The Jefferson’s, What’s Happening, Sanford and Son, All in the Family, etc. took racism head on and killed it. And I mean real generational racism, not the micro aggression, pseudo intellectual “systemic racism” bullshite we have today.

We all saw how ridiculous it is, played sports and coexisted with black people and truly believed that people are individuals and shouldn’t be grouped into classes due to skin color. We were good.

Then the Marxists figured out they were losing a major lever for power so they came up with all of this new bullshite. The whole concept of “it’s not enough to not be racist, you have to be against system racism” is solely because they couldn’t find any racists any more.

ETA: also, in case nobody noticed, they changed the definition of racism to exclude anything said against white people… as that was a problem when they ramped up the rhetoric. So now black can say some of the most racist vile shite imaginable without recourse.

Why do all the Jews change their names or use stage names? Pretty much everyone he worked with for years were Jews.
