Yep. I am thinking what % of the whole parish flooded?

Same for EBR and Ascension.

Has anyone heard anything about Santa Maria? Did the water go up at all after 4pm yesterday?

I have no idea... that's what I've been wondering-- how much water can this swamp hold?

I don't think the swamp continues to hold it. It has to be flowing out the back side.

If I understood Sheriff Jason Ard correctly last night, his estimate was that over 75% of Livingston parish had flood damage, or worse.

Let's just hope it holds enough to give the Amite time to adequately drain and stop the back-flow. That'll be a big help...

Unfortunately he said 75% were a total loss, probably 90% had some damage.

I was looking at topo maps and if any of you do the same, something about Spanish Lake Swamp might surprise you. The entire area is 5 foot elevation. The BF/WC system is at least 15-20. IMO it would take an unheard of amount of water to flood the BF/WC system from backflow. I heard that they drained the swamp a long time ago - did they do it after the flood maps were drawn? If so, this swamp should be everyone's favorite body of water now, and those maps need to be redrawn. It has an immense capacity.

Sometime later I will take pictures of what I'm talking about.

Thanks for that info Super.

Also, just had a friend try to make it to Blane Ct. off of 933 and still wasn't able to get in from any direction.
