So that nearby lake didn't overflow?

I've been through it before. I don't want to be sitting around when I have the ability to help people

I thought I heard a helicopter then realized it was boat motors.

I'm only in my 30s....but I don't remember that area seeing real flooding before. Maybe in 1983?

Same here. I feel for the people on the east side and elsewhere. I grew up on the east side. What I saw today turned my stomach. I can't sleep...

No, Lakes near the capital are fine. They are of no threat as of now

People are running regular outboards? I figured it would be surface drives or long tails

I hope the flood waters fan out along Spanish lake enough to keep this area safe. I don't think that will be the case though. I suspect Spring Lake area is at risk....but who knows at this point. Do we have reports of back flow starting at Manchac?
When would we know more about this area?

just saw this on fb:

GOHSEP, as I have been informed, is now coordinating rescues due to scale and size of emergency... This event is being assessed as that of "Hurricane Katrina" scale or larger with additional areas like Hammond and Ponchatoula which will be flooding overnight.

Water is still rising in Shenandoah so it's not done rising for anyone further down Jones Creek.

I hope its surface drives but sounds like small outboards.

The water is in the road at 5 houses down from the corner at Kennesaw. That intersection is deep. The houses on the corner are in trouble.

Twitter is blowing up about things going down in Sherwood but from the looks of it, appears to be North Sherwood Dr.
Can anyone confirm?

Yeah, reports of waist deep water, a levee breaking, etc. Not sure what is true, but there definitely is flooding.

Warning: I am no Super--just utilizing what I learned from him in here. Only thing I cannot determine is where the crest of the Amite is currently, which is the driving force of the backflood
Manchac at Little Prairie is going down ever so slightly--down .05 in the past hour
LINK
And further north on Manchac it looks to be slowing at Bluff Swamp
LINK
Then even a little further north at Alligator Bayou--same thing
LINK
ETA: Based on previous posts while I was writing this one that Jones Creek is still rising, which I would think means the crest is still north of Manchac
