Walking?? Nobody walks or rides bikes around. They need more parking and more lanes for cars. Not stupid bike lanes for the 3 bikes that use it every month. You people want BR to be some small town feel. It’s a damn city and needs lanes for cars.
Expanding Government street is likely not going to happen.

Nice that your argument uses mass-transit meccas like NYC and Chicago as examples.
If you think that throwing away two lanes will result in Baton Rouge suddenly becoming a mass transit and bicycling town, you're wrong. Doing away with the non-neighborhood traffic will only hurt the Govt. Street businesses. Of course, by the time those new coffee shops and restaurants are gone, the young demo that wanted this in the first place will have moved out of mid-city and purchased their adult homes in St. George and Prairieville.

I'm trying to think of something new that has open in that part of town recently. The only thing I can come up with is that Bleacher's Sports bar & Newk's. Which are both pretty forgettable.
Bleacher's is already closed. City Pork group are opening up City Slice there.
Krab Queenz boiled seafood and Geauld Tiger's are recent.

And I'm sure the walkability factor wouldn't attract a new generation to the area.

9 months of the year the weather is fantastic for drinking outside
That's a baldfaced fricking lie and you know it. You list September as if the Auburn game isn't biannually held in Tiger Stadium which, everyone who's been there knows, is situated approximately 9.4 feet from the sun and you list January and February as if there's not freezing cold arse rainy weather on the reg.
9 WEEKS out of the year is way closer to the truth than 9 months.

They think we're San Diego. Or NYC, or Austin... I can't remember who we're supposed to be this week. It depends on their argument.

LOL
Do you are saying that only 9 weeks a year we can sit outside at places to drink. Ever heard of shade, fans, and heaters?

No, you stupid frick. I'm saying 9 weeks is closer to the truth than 9 months as a way of pointing out the absurdity that it's pleasant outside in South Louisiana for 3/4 of the year.
See, it's a play on the number 9 that was used in the post I was responding to. Reading comprehension: It's not for everyone.
