This will be coinciding with the greatest wealth transfer in history which is Boomers leaving Trillions in cash and investment accounts to their GenX and Millennial heirs.

The gig economy isn’t limited to Uber Drivers. There’s plenty of other side hustles that are out there.

Pretty obvious where this is headed

Whats the incentive for a government to give out UBI? Will they do it forever? Or will there be "downsizing"

Edit: thanks for a downvote instead of arguing your point & providing an opportunity for others to learn

The early data is pretty clear that automated vehicles are exponentially safer than manually controlled vehicles. There will come a point where insuring a manually controlled vehicle will be incredibly difficult and expensive.

I often think about this at red lights. Imagine an entire group of cars all taking off at the same time. No delay while someone reacts to the driver ahead of them.

The possibilities are huge. Robot cars could go faster than human reaction times allow. It could become the equivalent of driving a horse & buggy on the interstate

The government isn't going to provide people with a middle class lifestyle. It might prevent you from being homeless or starving to death.

Modern automation is like nothing we've seen so far, but who is out there today mourning for jobs like lift attendants and telephone operators?

I’m imagining the car locking the hijacker in the car and driving to the police station.

To build a country based on services seems like it will be a mistake

I am possibly missing the sarcasm. If not, We’ve been a country based on services since the 1970s, which really became after the industrial boom brought on by WWI, WWII and the combustion engine. It’s worked out fine. There will always be an area of the economy that is industrial based and agricultural based. There will also be parts of the economy that technology deems obsolete. We, as a whole, have done remarkably well at adjusting. Just like we will with AI advancements.

I was in a Taco Bell drive thru the other day. A robot AI voice took my order. A human handed me the food but I assume that should also be changing soon.

And that's A-OK with me.

Cameras inside and outside the cars, centralized monitoring center watching cameras, police called by central op, vehicle stopped and locked down remotely so perp is trapped, a PIN sent to a verified account number for customers to enter one (maybe scan your phone), etc.

They can mitigate this.

Where does the money for universal income come from? How much is this proposed income? Won't prices simply increase by that amount overall?

Theoretically companies will start paying a "displaced worker tax" when automation replaces jobs.

Yep. We might be forced to finally entertain the idea of universal basic income.
