LOL. I guess until a majority of the hundreds of thousands get shot simultaneously, then it's considered "safe" by this guy.

If I had to pick between visiting NYC or New Orleans, I’d pick NYC in a heartbeat. Because it doesn’t even come close to being the shithole that New Orleans is. No city does with the exception of Detroit/Memphis.
All 4 of those are shitholes with pockets of western civilization. They will all go the way of the dinosaur, with NYC being last due to its economy.

The problem is, it now has "the sugahs" that often come with the package....
But Ray can rest easy knowing he was a part of the horrible leadership that led that city down this path to....wherever the f**k it's headed.

the beginning of RoboCop
Speaking of RoboCop, the actor who played RoboCop in the first movie bought one of the condos on Gov. Nicholls with his paycheck (the condos next to the townhouse Brad and Angelina later bought). He sold it within two years.
When RoboCob leaves.....

Walking down Canal street is awful these days, just thugs and shitheads everywhere trying to start fights.

I was there last night. I took my family to Galatoire's and someone was killed one street over while we were in the restaurant.
By the time we could get back to the hotel and turn on the news there was a double shooting on Bourbon that we missed by less than 15 mins.
The next story on the news was that some idiot had a RR spike and was running around bashing people in the head with it.
Meanwhile, back at the hotel, we were greeted by two panhandlers working in tandem. One was asking for money while the other was stealing bags out of the back of someone's truck as they were trying to check in.
There's zero security and no manned valet stand. There's another bum in the Cafe asking people to buy him coffee.
I ask the desk clerk what can be done....she says nothing. They lock the door at 10 pm, but other than that, anyone can come and go off the street.
When I asked about security she said: We have a repairman on call if you have any issues.
Leaving now. Will not return to this city.

Didn't she get the memo? Tourism drives the city.

“Bourbon Street bouncer accused of shooting two men after asking them to leave”
Ask once, shoot twice.

Crime spiked in the Quarter when the FBI cracked down on Organized Crime in the city. The mafia keep these lowlevel thugs in check and the city was a better place for it. New Orleans has always been run by the underground. Since the early 1800s

Bring back the mafia... They provided a public service.. Kept the French Quarter safe and fed the alligators in the swamps...

If NYC was a true shithole, it wouldn’t have a $1 trillion GDP and be one of the most powerful economies in the world. Putting NYC in the same category as NOLA/Baton Rouge/Memphis/Detroit is fricking retarded.

This is anecdotal, but we got a hotel by the Saenger for the Matt Rife show, but it got rescheduled to the same weekend as whatever the hell Rob 49 concert is at Smoothie King center
Our hotel was filled with 90% black people, and my genetic white guilt had me thinking we were in trouble..... but it was the best hotel experience we've ever had in Nola.
The valet and door greeters actively encouraged bums to go to hotels down the street.. the staff was super friendly.. the instagram/worldstar stars in the elevator were very nice to us.
It was like the bums, pandhandlers, pickpockets, etc all actively avoided that hotel for some reason

You’d think La would want to protect its main tourist location at ALL cost

Gun violence was another story unless Marcello's or Carollo's people were involved, which happened from time to time. Then it didn't happen. They took care of it.
We need the Cosa Nostra back.

We really liked the folks from Cuba who started Country Flame. My husband was one of a group who enjoyed Mexican Pizza there once a week for four or five years.
Dang.

They're getting loaded on the city's die.
They can order mocktails or drink a soda through a cocktail straw.

It is a heavily alcohol induced zip code.
You will never ever no matter who is in charge get this fixed without stricter laws which we both know cant/wont pass because or revenue. Probably NOLA's only brightspot.
Dubuque, IA is the drunkest city in the US and the 2021 murder # (which was reported as being abnormally high) is 5.... for the whole year.
