So no public university in the 3rd largest city.

Population of 194k isnt that large my friend. Those folks can qualify to go to Ruston or Nact which are by far BETTER schools and it aint even close.

Southeastern has the 3rd largest enrollment of any university in the state. They also have one of the top nursing programs in the country.

You can go ahead and take them off the list.

1. The state can no longer afford it for simply the convenience of people not wanting to leave home.

2. Again, Tech or NSU.

If you look at La on a Map...

NW - Northwestern
N - LaTech
NE - ULM
SW - ULL
S and Central La - LSU
GNO (SE La) - UNO / SELU

Everywhere else can become a 2 year school or kick rocks.

So leave LSUS and amputate Southern Shreveport.

It's called being an adult. I don't understand the need to perpetually live in a nanny state.

If your goal is to offer the most accessible education opportunities (which should be the goal) then closing the metro area colleges/universities are a bad idea.

If you leave LSUS, then Northwestern has to go.

Yes. Removing access except to the privileged few is the logical way to go.

Sorry to disappoint y'all, but SUNO finally got its Katrina check. They finna build them some fancy new buildings.

I get blasted every time I bring up this topic. So glad it was somebody else this time.

It's true that this is the political equivalent of AIDS. Nobody wants to touch it. That said, if we had to force the reality on people, you need this:

One flagship (LSU).
One 4-year university in the North (merge ULM into Tech, campus in Ruston)
One 4-year university in the South (I don't care, but ULL makes sense)
One 4 year school in New Orleans (merge UNO and SUNO).

All other campuses convert to junior college.

Probably the best idea. Combine Tech and ULM. Combine SUNO and UNO.

There is a racial element that would need to be addressed for that though.

what the crap is this? NLU is the only other school in LA with a football national championship other than LSU.

Southern Shreveport and LSU Eunice are already two-year schools. No reason to shut them down.

LSUA needs to return to being a 2 year school.

I could get behind this idea.

Offer correspondence courses at the smaller colleges.

Shreveport

Per all estimates the Lafayette metro has absolutely lapped the SBC metro since the 2010 census.

New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette are the largest cities in La.

Make the cuts at the smaller satellite schools instead of the main campus's. I think that is what he's getting at.
