Very much. Especially if they are dependant on TOPS.

You realize a university education isn't for everyone, right? That's not being mean, it's just fact. Part of the problem in this state is that we've created diploma factories that pump out graduates who will never make it in the professional world, and would have been better served by their government if they would have been directed to technical training for careers better suited for them.

If these same individuals are hell bent on getting a four year degree, then they can certainly pay for it, as it shouldn't be on the taxpayers' dime.

Yes, closing down a university with enrollment of 20,000 in the state's third largest metro in favor of McNeese makes a lot of sense
You and I have had this argument before, with you throwing in a few ad hominem insults

If you're really going Year Zero and closing SELU, NWSU, and ULM, then let McNeese cover the SW sector. Laffy peeps who get out of CC can move or commute to LSU or MSU

as someone in this thread keeps saying, some people are going to be inconvenienced

4th largest metro.

Lafayette metro surpasses Shreveport-Bossier to become 3rd largest metro in the state after New Orleans and Baton Rouge

The Lafayette area now boasts a population of 479,116. That’s 32,645 more residents than those included in the new Shreveport-Bossier City metro, even after that northwestern area added Webster as its fourth parish.

When arguing ULL vs Mcneese it's a simple measure of who will be inconvenienced the least. ULL has better infrastructure on campus, and better access for students transitioning from McNeese, Nicholls, and LSU-A due to it's interstate accessibility.

Yep. And merge Grambling with La Tech since they're right down the road from each other.

That makes no sense. Lafayette area is significantly larger, wealthier, and has a university as big as SEC schools like Ole Miss and State. If anyone here is being irrational it's you.

We should just put you in charge of deciding who goes where. You seem like you have this all figured out.

If Southeastern stays, then UNO goes.

Let's start with the basics. Are there any schools you'd be willing to close completely?

Actually the Lafayette metro has surpassed the Shreveport metro in population

That's twice now I've seen that in this thread. Anyone have a link because this is what I've found for most recent data.

The following table lists Louisiana's metropolitan areas, ranked by population as of February 1, 2013

Shreveport–Bossier City - 391,516
Lafayette - 273,738

IMO the universities that should be cut on the I-10 corridor is Southern University-New Orleans and Southeastern.

Schools should be consolidated with possible satellite campuses in different regions.. close southern Shreveport and New Orleans.. role LSUS into Tech and streamline ULM with a focus on certain degrees while doing the same with Tech.. turn mcneese and Nichols into specialty colleges that offer programs that fit the economy of Louisiana. Close LSU Eunice and leave Alexandria because the center of the state should have access to one state university.

I think Laf should have a U (of Acadiana) and it will never happen anyway, but if it's between MSU and ULL, keep MSU and have a real USWL

In the Ultra-Draconian scenario, I don't see a point for three Us in the L-BR-NO triangle (SLU and Nich would close, as of course would the Southerns)
