My wife got the crud before last Saturday, my son spiked a temp Mardi Gras night and tested positive for influenza the next day. My daughter spiked a temp Ash Wednesday and tested positive for influenza on Thursday.

I never spiked a temp but tested positive for the flu on Friday . We were all put on Tamiflu. We all had a flu vaccine this year..

First time I’ve been sick like that in years... Whole body ached and my throat was on fire...

Hope no one catches the same shite...

Side note, Tamiflu works.. After 48 hours on it, I feel better today. If you feel it coming on, get tested so you can get the meds prior to getting really sick...

Pretty sure you just set the record for using the term "spiked a temp" in a single post.

Nice job.

The flu was terrible. I caught it last year. A friend of mine caught it first, he called me crying on the phone asking if I could go buy him medicine. I got the medicine for him, and told him to stop acting like a bitch.

Karma bit me hard as hell. I caught it 2 weeks later. My entire body was in pain. I was breating hard just to walk to the kitchen for some water. My body was shivering almost nonstop. I did not cry like my buddy was, but I surely wanted to. It took me 8 days to make it back to work. Another 2 weeks to regain full energy back to normal

I thought folks were overreacting about the flu. I was wrong, it is so much worse than a simple cold.

The only thing worst for you besides Tamiflu is the flu shot.

My doctor said he would never take the flu shot.
I've never taken it. Had the flu once...60 years old.

The flu shot is basically an attenuated flu virus being injected into you. I have never had a flu shot and haven't had the flu since I was a kid. And I am working on sick patients all day long. I firmly believe diet, exercise and proper sleep are the three legged stool that keeps your immune system functioning to ward off sickness. I never get sick aside from occasional sinus issues related to allergies.

I got the Flu about a month ago ... It hit me like a freakin truck.
11:00 pm Thursday night I had a touch of sore throat and thought I might be coming down with something. Woke up 4:00 am Friday sick sick sick. High fever and couldn't stop shivering.

It was miserable for 3 days, took me 8 days to make it back to work, and even then I had to bail early because I was womped by mid afternoon.

Worst Flu I've had in many a year. And yes I got the flu shot but it didn't help this year.

I always figured the flu was like some really bad cold or something until I finally got it a couple years ago. Was worse than anything I’d felt before and I fully understand now why young and old people can die from it.

My wife brought it home to me last week. I nearly killed me this past week. Tamiflu really did help but, I’m still far from over it. I had some pretty physical home stuff to do this morning and it wiped me out.

Wife had shot while I didn’t. It didn’t matter.

That's the nasal spray variety. The trivalent or quadrivalent shots are inactivated virus.

Obviously not in a capacity as an educated healthcare professional.

I had a relative who had a psychotic reaction to it. 5-3, 120 lbs and it took four nurses to hold her down. A few hours later and she was fine again. Japan banned it because of this.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. Our 10 year old got the flu a couple weeks ago, and it was miserable. She was shivering nonstop and her throat was on fire. She took tamiflu, and stopped having fever after 2-3 days. But she was sick for a week.

My husband & I lucked out and didn’t get sick. No clue how, since she ended up in our bed the first couple nights. I hope you all feel better soon.
