How do you feel about this news? Someone I know who was dropped from this class told me a bunch of stories how PC it was, but I think half of it was anger from him failing ranger school 3 times and now as a 1LT(P)and the other half is true.

I heard the same from folks, instructors being pressured, standards being lessened. I read where they informed the instructors on the first day of swamp patrols that the president would be in attendance of graduation.

But it doesn't appear to cause real problems. For example, police forces around the world have female officers but somehow they appear to function just fine. As noted previously, the US Army has women in combat positions. All the services have female combat pilots. No, they motherfricking are not in combat units. Two women graduated Ranger school. That's it. They are not heading out the door to lead an infantry platoon tomorrow.

Did I say women didn't serve in combat? I am pretty sure, in this very thread, that I gave nods to helicopter crews, logistics convoys, some EOD teams, et al. I also said - and this is most certainly true - that it's not in the same universe as front line infantry and special operations units. They do very different things under very different circumstances.
I have all the respect in the world for people like Duckworth and Leigh Ann Hester...it doesn't mean that they belong in line infantry units for a variety of reasons.
If you don't think fricking your peers, superiors, and subordinates matters for a line unit, then I seriously question your mental faculties. Were you ever in a line unit?

Well said by her. If anyone can dispute this passage, I would love to hear it.
And sorry..."having a female perspective" as a benefit may hold water in a business or other civilian environment. It doesn't do much good when bullets are flying and distance between the unit and the enemy needs to be closed.

Women have no place in infantry, armor, cavalry, or artillery units. Period. For starters, they lack the upper body strength to be anything other than a burden on their fellow soldiers who would have to pick up their slack. Second, you don't want there to be any chance of sexual tensions arising in a combat arms unit. That's the real reason there was a ban on gays for so long. Sexual tension hurts unit morale and unit cohesion. and harming those two things in a combat situation will lead to people being killed.

Because these 2 chicks may get tabs, it doesn't mean they are ready for combat. That would be like a law school graduate being ready for the Supreme Court.
