Over a month ago, a dog goes overboard in alligator infested waters during a duck hunt. Owners have been looking for the dog ever since. Sleeping in their car at nights even during Christmas. At first didn't want many volunteers because "they would scare the dog further away". Duck hunters would chime in saying the dog either got run over by the boat and drowned or eaten by a gator, only to be quickly shot down by supporters of this family. Supposedly spotted on a network of game cameras they continue to organize search parties.

Check it out for a good Facebook read, Helping SCOUT Get Home

TLDR; Family refuses to believe their dog is dead.

I've been following this. They updated days ago saying they knew for sure that scout was alive. Followers on their page were begging for updates. They never updated. I don't know yet what to make of it all.

I’m pretty sure that Scout is long gone. Although last year, in Hammond/Ponchatoula there was a lab named Peyton that went missing. Was gone for something like 8 months. I was sure he was dead in a ditch somewhere, yet he ended up making it back to his owners. Not the same situation as Scout, but pretty amazing nonetheless.

People seem kind of obsessed over a dog

Scout saw an opportunity to get away from his obsessive family and hit the bricks. He rode a gator to freedom.

What picture?

I don't blame them for dedicating so much time and effort to search for their missing dog. More power to them and those who don't mind helping.

I really don't get all the negativity.

I followed it for a while, there’s more questions than answers in this ordeal.

Don’t have Facebook, so can’t follow the link, but the dog is either dead, or someone found him and is keeping him.

Domesticated dogs don’t just live in the woods for months and decide to go home whenever they want to. Homeward Bound is just a movie.

I know too many coonasses in Mississippi who’ll shoot a dog messing up a deer hunt, or realized they just found a fully trained duck/blood dog for free.

Although that’s extremely sad as an owner to think about, it’s reality.

Our old dog Frieda did. She'd go for walkabouts for weeks at a time and show up back home.

Maybe you and your sick, dog shooting hunting buddies lose your dogs when they get a chance to be free, but not all of us do.

Coonasses aren't the only dog killers in Louisiana. The rednecks there are just as bad about it. I get shooting feral dogs but they will straight up shoot somebodies dachshund that got out the back yard.

Dogs dont normally ruin a hunt. I watched two does hunker down and let some yard dogs walk past them 20 yards away and then go back to feeding. Hell, on a slow morning the dogs might get the deer slipping

I agree. I’ve hunted plenty of times when some loose hounds came through the plot. I’ve never once thought about killing a dog. It’s not their fault their owners are arseholes.

Last year, 3 hounds came through chasing when I was on a meat hunt and rolled a doe they were moving.

You’re a shitty dog owner if you let your dog go out for weeks at a time.

I’ve never shot a dog, or know if any buddies who have. You can know someone and think they’re a piece of shite for thinking dogs are ruining their hunt, but it does happen.
