Why do you think they are pushing these data centers fiercely so suddenly? They want total control and we will accept. These data centers aren’t about storing memes.

Disagree. I grill my retired FBI buddy for stories all the time. More or less he said 75-85% of bank robberies are crimes of opportunity - some dude needs $ for drugs or his bookie or rent or whatever and he runs in and robs a bank. Pretty easy to catch, no real plan
Said the guys that do it kind of like you see in the movies - where the watch the place, recognize schedules, have a plan - are very difficult to catch. He wouldn’t elaborate but it sounds like there are plenty of guys that have been getting away for decades we don’t know about

SC Department of Revenue did it to us in 2012... if the government is just giving that stuff away, what can you do?

My records got exposed in both Federal OPM breaches.....(the 2 we know of). Info was purchased and used to set up an apartment and utilities in Detroit....no hard credit checks, but when the collection letters came to my LA address it was already too late. Took months to clean up, and the dude plead guilty, so some justice.

You got to know who it was?

Lucky!

We got identity theft'ed maybe around '06... we weren't allowed to know who stole our money. Pissed me tf off... got grifted again, card skimming style, about 8-10yrs ago- didn't get to know who did that one either.

There has been no personal privacy for the last 25 years or more. There is not one bit of information that isn’t in multiple databases. They can even tell you what you are doing and what you will buy before the thought occurs to you.

personal data that large corporations (that many of you have never heard of I.e not Facebook) have about each and every one of us.

The USA pimps out all of our personal data to corporations across the globe. European countries banned those practices decades ago.

The frick they did. There are different privacy options in the EU than there are elsewhere, including the US, but it's not all that different. Even GDPR didn't make a noticeable difference in the sale, transfer, and use of EU PII.

I got a notice in the snail mail the other day that Comcast had a data breach.

Their offer?

USD $60

Why are you scared of this, OP? Have you done a bunch of bad things that people don’t want you to know about?
