Yeah, I disagree with messing around in the cosmos probably more fundamentally that I disagree with rampant AI development. People lose sight of the fact that, as a comparative pecking order, we are an ant to a species capable of interstellar travel. When's the last time you stopped to think about killing an ant?

Thing is, if we even picked up a signal or created a way to view deep into the universe where we see evidence of other life, there’s no guarantee that life even still exists. It’s so far away that the image or signal would have originated thousands, millions or even billions of years ago. To put into perspective, the modern form of humans evolved about 200,000 years ago on earth. Civilization has only existed for 6,000. Think of how much changed on this earth in such short time, and think about how many resources we will run out of in the next 6,000. Odds are we won’t exist then, or will revert to a more primitive state. So if you find a planet 30 million light years away with proof of life, that proof you see was 30 million years ago. Odds are it’s no longer there. Hell the planet may not even exist anymore

This all reminds me of a joke my stepfather told me. Said there was a college debate competition and the subject was the canals on Mars ie: what they were, who made them, why etc etc etc.

But you're assuming they way they communicate. What if its some form of esp? Not like that shite is on the wavelength spectrum you know? UV? X? Gamma? Nobody knew those existed until someone found them. So what if the aliens developed their comms around a way that doesnt put out radio waves?
