But you’re playing with your value of money, not hers. Maybe that bet didn’t mean shite to her and it was worth losing that amount of money to see if he was bluffing and be able to read him better in the future.

You’re stance is the lady the is fully backed to play in a game bigger than her bankroll is somehow calling $110k to see if he’s bluffing a hand that even if he is bluffing will beat her a vast majority of the time? If he flips over qjhh and she loses both run outs, what exactly did she learn that will help her better read him in the future? That’s a tough stance man.

That sounds about right. I've made some ace high calls before and felt and looked like a damn moron. I couldn't imagine showing down jack high. It's just unbelievable.

Just finally read through this thread after avoiding if for a few days.

I am a terrible poker player. and i mean terrible. i enjoy low stakes game, but i'm not good by any means.

the guy that hosted our area table was pretty decent and took it seriously. i won on something like this (no winning combo, highest card won) with an A high vs him and he lost his ever loving mind. Never mind that he was trying to bully me and ride the river with nothing.

i was just ready to go home and was trying to get out and i ended up matching his all in. he paused the game and kept hammering me on why i stayed in over and over for 20 minutes after the game. it just made 0 sense to somebody like him that loved the game why i would call him with nothing in my hand.

not saying she was or wasn't cheating, but Garrett seemed to have the same reaction as this guy.

There are times in poker when calling with A high is good. Without seeing a hand history, it’s hard to tell if you even made a bad call. He might have just been bitter. You’re also playing in a small limit cash game and not a $100/$200/$400 game.

This is very true. I just find it difficult to imagine a universe where anybody - even a millionaire sugar-daddy bankroller - would be content with that kind of play for that much money.

I mean, yeah, I know there are people out there who could shrug off a loss like that, but still be pissed at how moronically it was lost.

I suspect you’d bitch and moan just like the dude in this video

Trust me, you'd never beat me with a high card, so I wouldn't have to worry about that. It's not my style of play. I'd never raise all-in like that in a cash game without some kind of made hand. I don't have big enough cajones.

And now that I think of it...hands like this are a good reminder of why I don't, especially in amateur games

I prefer to just wait out the dumb decisions and get my money in when I know I'm ahead.

I’m not saying that’s “my stance.” But it certainly seemed to be hers.

And that’s my opinion of what happened, yes. She made a stupid call to see if he was bluffing. And he was. And she got lucky and won anyway. shite happens.

Well that’s funny because most likely I wouldn’t have the balls to call you either.

I’m just saying if I was confident that you were full of shite, I’d be comfortable calling you to see what your hand was and if you were bluffing.

But I’m a pretty conservative poker player. I’d likely do exactly what you just said.

That's not a lucky call, it was an idiotic call. Not even the worst of the worst poker player would make that call. It makes absolutely no sense.

Couldn’t you also say it was idiotic for him to raise and go all in with that hand?

That guy sounds like a queer and also like a few people in this thread. You should have rubbed it in his face that you read him like a children's book.

Also, don't call down all ins with a high card too often.

You seem singularly interested in just dropping neat poker nerd terms in at every opportunity and it's making me cringe. I don't even disagree with a lot of your posts, but God damn you're a cliche "that guy" in most threads I happen to notice your posts.

Apologies for the random act of message board violence. It's meant to be helpful.

It's possibly thin, considering the villain in the hand. He was probably counting on the amount of money helping him out there. Even for pros, it's hard to call with an actual bluff catcher there.

I don't hate the play, even though I wouldn't make it. I'm also a nit though, so I just call the turn and see a river. Or even fold the turn. Hard to fold a straight flush draw, even for us nits.

no, he was the aggressor. Calling is 1 billion times worst than shoving. If she makes the shove and he calls and loses both run outs, the hand is odd, but not dill discussion worthy.

Which is fine by me, considering the casual games I stick to nowadays

I was more aggressive back when I played online, but I've found it's just not necessary anymore, especially with casual players around the table at a home game where I can spot tells.

I'm happy just doubling my money and having fun socializing while doing it, than trying to win half the money at the table.

He’s a good dude just frustrated at going out to a noob like me. Used to being the high stack and I had enough to match.

I haven’t played in 5 years so it’s not a problem.

I was just messing with you. I'm the nit too in the PLO game especially.

I don't make those crazy bluffs either. Especially since they love to call. It's always the number one leak.

It would shock people how opposite I act in real life at the table as opposed to on here. I'm just trying to make people laugh at have fun and get along. Don't make waves, keep the game flowing.

I’m the Aggro rec at my local casinos.

That’s aggressive recreational for the non poker lingo guys bc I’m only able to play once a week with my schedule. Also, we’re playing 1/2 most of the time, so there’s a lot of blind flips for their $100 stacks. Figure I’ll get it back later on.

Why you tilting over the lingo baw? Your mental game is leaky AF.
