The Christmas blues are kicking in

My out of town siblings are together with the fam in San Antonio. I got to see my daughter today, so I stayed back. I just dropped her off and am now running around doing my sister a favor and trying to get a last minute gift card. It’ll be just me and the dogs tonight. I can’t even stay up late with a couple of drinks because I have to get up early for the two hour drive to join everybody.
The realization of being raped financially, still the odd one out in family gatherings, and spending 4 hours driving to San Antonio and back to appease everyone has me feeling cruddy. And to top it off, my little girl is sick, and hearing her cry most of the day is heartbreaking.

Hang in there. I’m struggling too. My wife took my kid to her parents for both weeks of Christmas and thanksgiving. I was sober for years with a great life and I relapsed and burned my life to the ground. Finances are wrecked. Health is compromised. She’s divorcing me. I tried to tough out thanksgiving alone and that didn’t work so I’m with a couple new friends tonight. Merry Christmas

I spent many holidays along when I was younger. It's not easy, but it depends on personal factors.
