These Lafayette school people think they belong in the SEC
ETA I don’t think that anyone whose Alma mater has a library that floods and has water pouring through the roof-destroying books, is in any position to be starting threads on another school’s facilities-one that serves as a sports/entertainment venue at that. Louisiana is a poor state, and unfortunately, when you’re poor your public facilities suffer.
I’m an UL grad, but my kids graduated from LSU, and I’m always thrilled when the Tigers do well, be it in athletics or academics.

Tulane is officially the Tulane University of Louisiana by state legislation in 1847 and any other system trying to claim university of Louisiana name is illegitimate.
The fact that there's a school called "Tulane University of Louisiana" in no way prevents there from being another school called "The University of Louisiana."

How long did Ice Gators last? I went couple games in late 90’s & it was a fraction of that crowd.
Are the Shreveport Mudbugs & Baton Rouge Zydeco (stupid name for BTR) the only Louisiana hockey left?

University of Louisiana became Tulane University of Louisiana, it’s on their diploma.
There is no designated University of Louisiana. The University of Louisiana system contains nine 4 year colleges. In ULL’s case, their diplomas say University of Louisiana at Lafayette. ULM’s say University of Louisiana at Monroe.
They do not just say University of Louisiana.
LSU, on the other hand, diplomas say Louisiana State University.
The only reason ULL continues to push the “Louisiana” narrative is to elevate their status above the other directional commuter school.in the system and sound prestigious. Their student population numbers are similar to Southeastern Louisiana University. Wonder what would happen if they started calling themselves “Louisiana”

Went UNO lakefront arena about a year ago. Still looked like 1986 in there.
But that’s the charm. It’s why I still eat at Shoneys.

The state wouldn’t allow it. There can only be one State University. That is and always will be LSU. (Unless I missed a rule change)

The people running the concessions at the Cajun dome are horrible. Went to the Monster Truck show last March, sat down and my 2 boys wanted popcorn and drinks. Left them with my wife while I waited in line. 70 minutes later I returned to my seats. Missed almost the entire show with my kids. Never again.

I’ve got my steps in today, hiking up and down these stairs since only lower level concessions are open (except for lemonade and nuts)
And whoever said these concessions are worse than Aramark is 1000 perfect correct

I tend to agree, but dragging Tulane into the mix is silly.
The best argument against "Louisiana" is that this issue was already decided when the system was founded. It was made clear at that time that there would be no U of L campus / sports program per se.
As to where ULL falls in the pecking order of schools, I would say that they fall on the fringe between forgettable commuter school (SLU, Nichols) and beloved alma mater (LSU, Tulane).
That's why this gets contentious. There's conflict between the "commuter school" people and the "beloved alma mater" people- and that conflict exists both within the University and between the University and those outside.

Good point. I wondered why such the drop. Sure, metro area has less people but didn’t understand such a drop in attendance
