Have you seen the drama about her that came out today? Apparently she and her husband/coach have been deleting other ultra runners accolades from their Wikipedia pages to make her look better than them

Something fat people love saying to runners, seemingly unironically

This is something runners say to people who actually have muscle mass. Gonna be fun when you’re 60 and can’t lift a cereal box.

Oh Lord, a fatty who calls himself a lifter. Even worse.

All of the speed records are supported. So much coping right now in this thread.

That's impressive, but at that rate she didn't get to see much of it. Which is kind of the point of the trail.

Yet you probably hop in your car and drive around Cades Cove to take in the nature

Enjoy deadlifting 600 lbs but wheezing going up the stairs and dumping a gallon of sweat bending over to tie your shoes (if you can reach them).

I salute you red faced, 1500 lbs club, knee-sleeve wearing Michelin Men of the OT for having the courage to disregard irony and demonstrate concern for this woman's future potential knee problems.

Do people enjoy this? I can’t figure out why someone would ever even conjure up this activity. Free Power bars for life!

Ultra events are where women are the most competitive relative to men. Ive heard it's due to body composition and fat storage

This is true. Once you get to distances above a half marathon, the gap between men and women narrows and the longer the distance, the narrower it gets.

There’s a lady in my neighborhood that is a top 5 performer in the 24 hr race series. You’d pass her on the street without a second glance. Looks just like an average woman except a little taller. No idea how people do that.

Yep. World record men's and women's marathon time difference is only a matter of a few minutes

Show me a runner who is 60 and can't lift a cereal box.

You are ill-informed.

All of the AT speed records are not supported. "Supported" is one category. Many people, usually after hiking the trail a couple times, go for a "record" un-supported speed.

Guaranteed she went through 4-5 pairs of trail runners. I get about 500 miles out of mine just regular backpacking. Running the AT will eat shoes!

what she did was not a hike it was a 40-day run. You have to be supported to do that. Why that bothers anyone is beyond me

no different than overland auto racing with a support team and drivers

what trail runners are you using? I want to shuck boots but I’d rather have a little ankle support than none
