Scamming on Amazon is no different than the videos we see of people walking into a store and just taking stuff yet I wonder how many people scamming on Amazon would do that and/or look down on people who do it. There really is no difference between the two.

There is a huge difference between the two.

Amazon is essentially being subsidized by smaller less sophisticated retailers that use their platform and don’t have a good understanding of returns allowances. They don’t even set their own return policies.

It’s much like the Uber business model. Sap all profits as a middleman. Cycle through providers that slowly realize it’s not worth their time.

Large retailers can reel this in by not offering ridiculous return policies. They have monopolized nearly every segment, trading customer service for excessively liberal return policies. The online stores obviously pass that on to the individual stores within the network. The brick and mortar offer the same to survive.

Corporate America is on the last notch of its belt.

This is one of the first things I did.

I still say if you are actively trying to cheat money out of sellers on Amazon you are no better than the videos we see no matter how liberal the return policy is.

Home improvement items. I already know a lot about it from being a contractor for 20 years and had sources of where to purchase for resell.

The goal next year is to build my own brand and source out production. I have been ordering samples and getting ideas.

That's cool, man. Wish you luck.

For all we've seemingly "advanced" as a society, people are bigger pieces of shite than ever.

I've wondered if Amazon keeps track of how many times a buyer claims to not having received an item and/or the item is received broken.

Do you know if Amazon monitors those stats by individual buyer?

They do.

There is a subreddit that gives explicit details on how often and what dollar amounts you can get away with it.

No, I'm not gonna link it because it's a shitty thing to do.

There is also apparently an entire sport of leaving 1 star reviews on Amazon, waiting for the company to offer you something free to change your review, and then changing your review to a 5 star.

I started selling on Amazon about 4 months ago and the attempts of people to steal are staggering. The most common is an item not received claim or people swapping out their broken item for a new one and returning the old one.

Which makes me hesitant to sell online for this main reason.

I had no idea. Funny you bring this up because I left a genuine one star review the other day and was sent this email from the company yesterday

They can't come out and say they want you to edit your review because that is against Amazon policy but I figured that is what they want.

I dont want the refund and I am letting the review stand since it really is cheap junk and doesn't work half the time.

Just looked up some batteries and found these two reviews. So much of Amazon is straight BS. Both of these are obviously bought and paid for 5 star reviews.

"Update: This company is impressive. They saw my review below and reached out to me offering a full refund which they then gave me (without any strings attached). I'm very impressed and will give them another try.

I hope they will get as good with quality control as they are with customer service. It's very unusual to find a company which pays as close attention to their customers as this one! Bravo!!

The first four batteries worked a decent amount of time in my Blink camera, then after my third change-out the batteries didn't last for but a few weeks (maybe 3). I think the first batch (2) lasted several months. So, I don't know what's wrong and why they didn't last, but they didn't. Not buying this brand again!!!"

"FIRST REVIEW: These lithium batteries are the WORST! I’ve been using them to power one of my non-wired Blink cameras and they literally need changing every two weeks when they’re supposed to last a year for this purpose. Who cares if these batteries are cheap because they’re a complete waste of money. Don’t bother to order them.

UPDATED REVIEW: Great customer service! This company refunded my money and I am very appreciative of that. Thank you."

I think it points to our value system in general taking a nose dive. People rationalize it and excuse it, or gloss it over because they simply don’t believe there’s a cause and effect relationship to this kind of behavior, and when you remove the consequences in your mind to what is right and wrong, there’s nothing to govern your behavior besides “just don’t get caught”, and in a society driven by “ME ME ME ME ME” that’s just not going to turn out well.

We had Amazon refund us an item that they said the carrier lost. We received it two days later. We call to let them know and they were like “all good”, just keep the item and the refund.

This has happened to us probably 10 times. We have an address that confuses the shite out of delivery people I think.

Part of issue I think is that most people who buy from Amazon think they are just screwing Amazon. They don’t realize it’s a small business trying to eke out a margin.

Anyone remember when Amazon would just send you random stuff if they were out of what you ordered??

I think we got 2 random refrigerator water filters in a row. Then you would call/chat and they would say "my bad" and your stuff would show up a week later. I think it was when the 2 day prime guarantees came out and they would rather look stupid rather than look incompetent! LOL Became really obvious after the first couple of times.

I’m not reading all this, but we have a culture problem.

Until we fix our culture of entitlement, then we will suffer as a country.

There is much propaganda about capitalism propagated by the media

Every single issue we face today could be solved by changes in our culture. Homelessness, racism, education, poverty, crime. All solved by changed in culture. But we can’t have that conversation.

i order, or I used to order a lot of thing from amazon warehouse. So much stuff is completely broken or incomplete or a counterfeit part that was suppose to be OEM. This has gotten bad in the last two years.

Its obvious people are buying stuff and not sending back appropriate stuff. Now I only use warehouse if its something that isn't likely to be counterfeited or something I have time to re-order before needing it.

I was needing enough fuel line that I could buy a whole roll for about what I could for the amount I needed at autozone. Found a roll of goodyear on warehouse. After it came I measured it and it was short 3ft. Kinda what I was expecting and it didn't really matter to me but it was clear someone cut off what they needed and sent it back. Obviously no one at amazon is checking to see if there is 3' missing off a 25' roll.

Also I dont use A-warehouse as much because a lot of prices are almost as much as new. There was some great deals to be had 5 years ago.

I've heard of people getting "banned" from amazon for too many returns. I was kinda worried about it because I return of lot of the warehouse stuff for the aforementioned reasons. I doubt the "ban" is very effective in keeping people from making a new username.

For amazon's Cyber Monday sale, I had two items show up on the "recommended" Cyber Monday deals which I previously purchased. I looked at my prior purchase and the exact same price was listed as the Cyber Monday deal.

Biggest source of open theft today is the US healthcare system (insurers, hospitals, etc.)
