Additionally BP drops for many people in upright/standing position. But they only check it sitting/lying.
All of this

I cut back my bp. Meds againt my doctor orders. My bp would crasg every day around the same time. I can function with it a little high. But when it crashes I'm just out of it.
Also it's killing my testosterone. I lost most of my drive in the last year.
I feel better totally off meds but my bp shpots up really high.
Now i play the game on which will fail first. My heatt or my kidney . But in the plus side i don't have to save for retirement anymore.

Pretty sure these changes were almost a decade... your own post says 2017

AI on how BP gets measured quote: “You spend 20 minutes searching for a parking spot. You wait an hour, they call you in. CBA Ratched sets you down in a chair, immediately slaps a too small cuff right over your jacket. Pump, pump, pump — my arm’s turning purple — my fingers are tingling and boom ‘190 over 120, whoa!! you must be stressed.’ Yeah… stressed from losing blood flow and realizing my coat just got a medical degree.”
Exactly. And don’t forget the 34 invasive questions they are asking while the machine is measuring your BP.

I keep a log for a month or so before going to the doctor. It will be sky high in the doctor's office. Normal settings and throughout the day its 110-120/70-80.

I understand it just fine. It’s just irrelevant to the conversation at hand

AI is getting better but missed an important part. The nurse taking your BP is also asking you a series of questions about your health while the machine is measuring your BP

Yep, I do the same. It's the only way for me. I also bring in my machine to the doctors office once a year so they can check accuracy of it.

Lifestyle changes alone should be able to bring that down.
He had already dropped close to 60 pounds and had changed his diet. So, not always.

I guess so!! I would find a new doc, in all honesty. Don't let a GP mess with your heart unless you live in a very rural area without a cardiologist. Just my two cents.
Sure.

As an ex ICU nurse it is disturbing to me how many nurses forget everything they learned in nursing school about the proper way to take a BP.
I saw it all the time in ICU of all places-cuff too small or too large, too tight or too loose.
Drs.offices are the worst.
Went to eye Dr.yesterday,as soon as I sat in chair took it with a wrist cuff which I don’t like 138/85(Stage 1 HTN range). That’s higher than what I get at home.I’m kinda stressed when I go to to eye Dr.as I have Macular Degeneration which has stayed stable for 5 years(haven’t lost my central vision) but I’m always nervous that he’s going to say it’s worse.
About a week before I go to see my PCP,I take my BP 3 times a day and write it down to put in my chart. Most of them are in the elevated range,a few in the Stage 1 range.(according to the new guidelines).
I’m almost 75 ,I’m fine with it,so is my Dr.but he hasn’t been captured by the MIC.
He even gave ivermectin to his Covid pts. That’s why I go to him.

My BP is always sky high according to my PCP and I should be medicated and am risk for a stroke.
By sky high it's always 125/85. Always for my whole life. As a kid and into college i was told it was pefect. Now its an issue lol.
I exercise and run daily. I could loose a few pounds but I'm far from overweight. My heart has gotten checked and is strong. No leaking valves. Cholesterol is great.
Doctors are crack-pots and just want to medicate everyone now.

Looking at that chart reminds me of the time I had to have my blood pressure checked in back of ambulance and mine was so high they thought their machine was broken
The two paramedics just looked at each other and asked me if I felt ok and was I on any medications etc.
I told them no. In reality I was on like 2 grams of testosterone a week, 1 gram of tren a week, 800 mgs of Equipoise and I think either 100mg of dianabol or 100mg of Oral Turinabol a day. I want to say my bp was like 250/180 or something like that
it was off the charts. To this day I have no clue how I didn't die in my sleep.

Yes, this has been coming for a while now (the AHA actually released this a while back) and I am also not happy with it.
Aside from the point about the elderly being placed at higher risk for injury due to Hypotension since thats already been stated..
BUT NOW, doctors treating patients with high blood pressure will be financially targeted for NOT getting people to these lower pressures (even the elderly)

The American Heart Association revised its blood pressure categories
Doesn’t seem like they changed the categories from the 2017 changes but updated treatment guidelines within the 2017 category changes.
The table below compares the previous (pre-2017) categories with the current (2017-2025) AHA/ACC categories. The 2025 guideline update maintains the same classification thresholds as 2017, with refinements in treatment recommendations but no changes to the diagnostic ranges.
In the article the only table labeled new was for pregnancy, so maybe there was an update with those categories.
