The acceleration lane is designed for you to meet the speed of traffic BEFORE merging.

I’m sick of getting caught behind people trying to merge onto the interstate going 55. The acceleration lane is made to ACCELERATE. Get to the speed limit, or preferably slightly over. Rant over. I’ll have a 4 for 4 please.

I've gotten behind a handicap license plate before and they merged onto fricking I40 @ 20 MPH. Passed them on the shoulder of the on ramp. I could see them causing havoc with the big trucks in my rear view mirror.

Those big trucks can't stop on a dime folks... please atleast go the speed limit!

It’s actually insanely dangerous to go too slow on the acceleration ramp. Way more accidents happen because someone is driving too slow than too fast and that’s been studied. Nothing worse than getting stuck behind some retard going 35 MPH being “careful” and having to cut into traffic going almost twice as fast as you

It's Louisiana, so completely ignore that 12" wide solid white line and hop on in as soon as you're able.

It kills me when people stop and yield at an intersection turning into an independent lane for people turning right.

Not as bad as people who jump into that lane in gridlock traffic to get 3 car lengths ahead.

Oh there’s my exit two miles up the road? Better hog the far right lane where people are trying to merge as well as catch up to the speed of traffic.

If you aren't going the speed of traffic while trying to merge, I will run you off the road

I'll see your slow arse on-rampers and raise you a red light center-lane race to the on-ramp. Iykyk.

There's a reason insurance is so high in Louisiana. Dumbassery.

Heaven help you if you ever encounter the I10/I49 cloverleaf in Lafayette. Its especially entertaining when someone in the left lane tries to exit from 10 to 49 North.

Ideally yes, but there are many examples of functionally obsolete bridges, where the on-ramps/merge space are just too short to do this safetly, e.g., the St. Ferdinand st. westbound onramp to the new bridge.

handicap license plate
Immediate indication to get in another lane ASAP.

You never know, it might well be a perfectly good driver. But on average, there are more bad ones than good ones. So I try not to follow behind a driver with a handicap sticker/plate.

You right for sure..... but not all idiots are created equal when we talk about bad drivers. Some have their PHD in it.

Love it when so many idiots are surprised to find that the on-ramp does, indeed, come to an end at some point.

I've had grandma go straight to the lane at 20 mph even though the ramp continued for another 1/4 mile. I got over to the ramp and went around them rather than trying to stop a 80k semi behind her. Cop that was a couple of cars behind me pulled her over.
