80k for a tru
I suppose a lot of people would feel this way.
...except this OT baller/plant operator.

Spend all that money on a truck to treat it like a luxury car and not put shite in the bed that will scratch it.

I spent $34k on my 2016 Tundra and couldn't be happier. I don't know why anyone needs to spend more than that on a truck.

Something that lasts <= 5 years without needing repairs will cost more than homes.

These Baw-Mobiles keep getting bigger and bigger. Eventually they will begin driving decked out skidders.

People said the same thing about the housing bubble.
It burst. Overpriced trucks will too.

Why do other people worry about what kind of vehicle or cost of vehicle that other people buy?
I'm not sure the word is "worry", but looking at national income statistics, the economics of vehicle ownership, and the opportunity cost of those decisions, the vast majority of folks that put that kind of money on a vehicle are making a losing decision.
They are free to do that, but they should be honest with themselves. I'm not free of making "bad" decisions myself, but I do it with my eyes wide open.
I suppose I care if they go bust and I have to support them though.

I know a lot of people with expensive trucks that actually work the truck and can actually afford the truck. I've had two King Ranch 350 and I worked the shite out of them and wore them damn near out but they were very comfortable to drive and I enjoy that.
This is an anecdote.

bought a new 2017 Chevy z71 4x4, 5.3l crew cab for $39k a few months ago.
If Chevy would put that 6.0L into it's lower model trucks, thats what I'd be driving today. I like that Ford will put any of its engines into any trim package.

I have a 2016 diesel High Country that stickkered at 72k. I got a great deal because my small business does vendor work at several dealerships.
I can afford what I want my wife and I do very well. I have 2 homes, no mortgage and that's the only car payment we have. Downvote me to hell, I truly don't give a shite.

There sure is a bunch of jealousy in this thread.
Jealous of all the pussy this guy is going to get in that sick truck with that badass tribal hanging out the window. Probably shouldn't even bother hitting up the myrtle beach strip this summer. All the women are going to be in the bed of this cool guys new 80k pussy wagon.

Q: "That's a cool tribal tattoo. What tribe are you in?"
A: "The tribe that had an extra $170 lying around in 2002"

recently purchased a 2017 f150 super crew fx4 with the 3.5L turbo v6 for sub 35k.
Yeah they all sticker for 45k but they'll always knock 8-10k off without even serious dickering.

It's a stretch because that's an absurdly high salary for an $80k vehicle.
I'm not sure where I saw it, but I read somewhere that a good rule to go by is half of your salary for vehicle prices.
I'm at like 1/4 of mine, though.

Almost every truck owner does. Most just won't admit it.
100%, then they'll look at my wife like she's uppity because she drives a BMW, while their truck/Yukon probably costs twice as much. It's stupid

Got one similar. Paid $17k used, last year Tacoma came single cab. Can't keep up with the 40k millionaires I suppose.

There is more truth to this than sarcasm.
