Not to sound like an insensitive prick but 911 can’t do shite at this point besides write down your location. I still can’t believe so many people stayed

If anyone made their kids stay, CPS should be ready to take those kids away by Tuesday or Wednesday (assuming the kids live).

Surprisingly the winds and surge even in the bad storms kill very very few people. What generally kills people in bad hurricanes is drowning, accidents, and then the aftermath in looting and violence.

Damn you are ate up with stupid. Yes most deaths from hurricanes is drowning, caused by what storm surge. You ride on one TD meme and think lootie killed someone. The people who died in the aftermath was almost totally from acts of nature like disease and those people had no access to health care at that point.

The occupied floor on that Grand Isle Multiplex doesn't look much higher than the GI cam.

There literally is none, for the citizens and public servants.

They are about to experience forces of nature few people have the chance to. I don't understand what would prevent them from leaving, but I hope there is some chance they make it out alive.

I thought I heard on the local news yesterday that the people who were staying behind in grand isle were.. I guess essential people of some type.. And that they were all in the most secure building there, but I feel for them.

The only way to get there at this point is by helicopters and that won’t be until late tomorrow or early Tuesday

.... Given your flippant response I will assume you are unaware the water has receded and there is some sand on the road.

When Katrina hit Dauphin Island, AL was just off the eyewall on the NE quadrant. The east end was protected by Pelican island but the west end was not. The west end was pushed north by about 100-200 yards. ETA: also a cut was formed that ended up being around .25 - .5 miles wide

Hurricane Charley did the same thing to Captiva Island in 2004.
