To the very few of you Millennials who know how to shift gears, the manual tranny in these is very precise. Like a bolt action.
The best part about driving that car is that you don't have to look at it. Truly a horrible era for American car design.

Man a 1990 Saleen convertible would be pretty sweet.

When I graduated from college in December of 1989, I drove my 1978 green Toyota Corolla station wagon with my job offer letter down to the Ford dealership. I received $400 trade in towards a new 1990 Mustang GT 5.0. It was a cool car, but slightly slower than the lighter LX version.
The engine was great in that car but the body components began to rapidly fall apart within 10 years. I finally decided to sell it when the door handle broke in half in my hand. By then the driver's door no longer hung straight, so the bushings had to be replaced every few months, the hatchback wouldn't latch, rust was developing under the rear spoiler, and I could go on.
Most of the time I'm pretty nostalgic about cars, but that car was very cheap quality with exception of the V8 power plant. I wouldn't pick that one if I found one for sale to live my past in.

Still want one of these.
I'll give an exemption for trucks and SUVs. At least, they can look decent with the super boxy/hard lines aesthetic. Cars just look like shite with a bunch of angles.

The late 90s Silverado is still a great looking truck. Those Z71s were the tits.

I think your age range needs to shrink to like the early 90s, the common cars of the time all looked like poo.

There were a few cars that looked good in the 80s-90s.

I think my dad had that car.

Saw one for sale about a year back on Facebook in similar condition for $4000. Wanted to buy it so bad.....wife said no.
I was super pissed for a good half hour or so.

I think there were quality cars made in that era....but I challenge you to find one that is actually good looking. There are probably some coupes that I'm forgetting - for instance, I'd race the shite out of a '88 Grand National.

Imo the 69-70 was the best then came the fox body. I've owned 3 of them. When I go to a car show I would rather see a nice fox body than a late model pos.

I had a 93 lx 5.0 and very briefly a 90 GT.
I never drove either that much. I cut the 93 up with a sawzall after Katrina.
(Parted out everything, made $5500)

I have no problem doing that on smaller things, but a whole damn truck would be pushing it.
Especially when I have a full size truck already.
