Peak Network TV? Yes. The networks are a shell of what they were, filled with game shows and reality crap.
Peak TV? No. We've been living in a golden age since The Wire and The Sopranos. Series now are movie production value.

TV and movies in the 80’s were original. It’s amazing how many good shows and movies were made during that decade. Everything made today is a copy or remake of something done in the 80’s. Or it’s some stupid franchise like Avengers or Transformers that they make because they know it will make a ton of money. Nothing is original anymore.
The 80’s was Peak America.

Love the thinking behind this post but will anything ever beat mid-1990s NBC must-see-tv?
Seinfeld, Frasier, Cheers, Wings, Mad About You...
And none of it was political propaganda. In fact we made fun of pompous over-opinionated d-bags like Niles and Frasier, who would probably be overly-PC these days.

Other than Miami Vice and Magnum, there was nothing special about 80s TV. Production wasnt that great (kids stuff especially went to ultra cheap production). No, the top of the mountain for TV was from 1963-77. After that many shows went to cheaper production methods and the writing fell through.

No shite. You could actually make jokes without everyone taking offense.
