I was bitching about my wife to my buddy, accidentally sent the text to my wife.

I’ve done it once. It was tough to walk back.

I meant to call one of my employees a mother fricker to another manager but sent it to said employee. I almost got fired

Ugh. Too many times, and it’s usually not such nice things. I played it off a couple of times and owned it a couple of times.

Sent a work IM to the person I was bitching about being a “lazy, helpless, shite head”

Not text but I sent an email
The old guy it belonged to came over shook my hand and told me he appreciated me letting him know where it was. It didn't embarrass him at all.
Our general manager told me I shouldn't play jokes with group emails anymore because the president of the company also got those.

I’m the official GOAT when it comes to this.

Not really, but I did accidentally send my mom a dirty text meant for my girlfriend at the time back in college. Was embarrassing as frick but then she just told me she wants grandkids eventually but not just yet so just be safe

I tend to type fast and edit my thoughts later (look at any of my TD posts, I always edit them)
Done this 5 times probably just not paying attention. Once during a break up. That was fricking brutal. I still cringe with how bad that one was

Assume that every email or text you send will eventually become public, and you will avoid many problems,
Leaks, forwards, butt dials. subpoenas, hackers, etc. make it all potentially public info.

Thinking back on some of the emails/texts I sent in the early 2000’s when I was getting out of college and first started emailing and then texting...cringe

Used to work for an electronics company. We had a conference call about the launch of the Palm Pilot personal digital assistant. My douche of a boss was going on and on about how he used his every day. So I text a co-worker “I bet Steve uses his palm every day” but accidentally sent it to Steve. Which he immediately read aloud to everyone on the call.

My mother in law is not really tech savvy or up to date on here abbreviations. A few years ago she sends my wife and her two sisters a text saying:
"wanted to let you know your aunt Beth just had a bad stroke and is in ICU. LOL"
They were all like WTF! Have you been drinking? Is this a joke?
Turns out she was under the impression LOL stood for lots of love.
I still die laughing to this day thinking about it. It's become a family meme behind the scenes.
Hey just wanted to let you know our house burned down. LOL

This is dangerous in the age of Teams / Zoom meetings.
One of my co-workers was sharing his screen while presenting in a Teams meeting, and a client on the call that we both cannot stand was peppering him with really retarded questions. I assumed the presenter was just sharing his screen, and not his desktop, so I shot him a private Teams message saying "this fricking guy...".
My Teams message to him pops up at the bottom of his screen for the entire group to enjoy. My buddy was on it, and got rid of it very quickly.

Got mad at my phone because I was trying to dictate a text and it wasn’t populating the field, so I called my phone “you stupid piece of crap”, my phone immediately typed that and sent it without me touching anything. The guy it was sent to and I got along just fine so I’m pretty sure he believed me
