They have known all along that what they were doing is illegal. They were hoping she would break.

The judge became the issue once he turned in to a sanctimonious prick demanding she apologize for her "selfishness" for daring to go against the crown's wishes.
Yeah I had no problem with the arrest and all since she technically was breaking the law and she was willing to face the consequences, but that part was just silly. I'm glad common sense prevailed from the state government.

I read he's an ACLU guy, too.

So you support the judge sentencing jail time? Meanwhile, they have no issues letting real criminals out

White privilege!
Having to be heard by a black judge who got into Harvard through affirmative action is white privilege?

What prisoners? They already released all of the real criminals to make sure they were safe.

The jail time was for contempt of court and the max for that is up to 6 months.
The legislatively blessed criminal punishment that Abbott noted in his order to close (which he took back) was up to 6 months.
Seems she got off easy. Do you think this would happen for you unless there were political points to be gained?

Well that pretty much sums up why he’s a POS.

And the Judge is the issue here?
The Dallas judge was the first to trigger shelter in place and place limits on commerce. I think they were on the leading edge nationally for almost everything involving the shutdown.
By comparison, there was a period over a week that the Fort Worth side had bars and restaurants open while Dallas was shelter in place.

County judge. Not really a judge and not the guy who sentenced this chick.

Huh? It was like a day later. Collin county was a week or so later.

I don’t remember the timeline but a couple of days later Tarrant was just limiting occupancy. As opposed to Dallas’s complete shutdown that had a de facto curfew with early shifters being pulled over and asked why are they are on the road. It was definitely over a week difference before the shutdown
Brain farted on it being the same judge though.
