Texas school staffers accused of locking up boy until he ate his own feces

Melody LaPointe, 47, and teaching assistants Tarah Tinney, 33, and Augusta Costlow, 27, were charged earlier this week with abandoning or endangering a child over the shocking incident in April 2021.
They are accused of putting the boy into an isolation room within a Liberty Independent School District facility, ABC 13 reported.
While confined to the room, the little boy fell and injured himself — but the staff allegedly did nothing to help him.
He was locked up until he started eating his own feces and drinking his urine.
In the wake of the arrests, the school district said they informed law enforcement and child protective services immediately after being informed of the incident.

A five-year-old who eats their own shite and urine should not be in a mainstream school. Most likely more to this story but reporting sucks.

Likely more to this story than reported. I doubt these teachers had any idea they were dealing with a child this disturbed. Second guessing well meaning folks is a cheap thrill.

There has to be more to the story. This is a public school just east of Houston. Even if a kid was put in a room all day I find it difficult to believe in a mere 6-7 hours you decide you gotta eat your own shite.

"More to this story"? Special Ed children have all kinds of different issues & each has his "own" doctor who oversees his education, medical protocols that the Special ED teachers have to follow. I've seen kids who have their own mini school buses, manufactured specifically for these type students who can't handle crowds. Another who flips out over the smell of hot cooked meals had to be fed separately in a small room. This type of reaction is far from the unusual for anyone familiar with Special Ed children.

It's quite literally in the report that the kid was of special needs.
And it's like the kid was left alone for only 10 minutes(even though I'm sure that's still illegal given the kid was of special needs).
