Imo a yellow jacket sting hurts worse than a bee

I wonder if they were killer bees. Honey bees just arent that aggressive.

Once they swarm all bets are off.

To me the bigger question is how they didn’t notice there was a beehive there before. Old people don’t usually let their yards go very long between cuts.

But that also leads me to believe they probably weren’t killer bees. He probably happened to do something this time that caused them to swarm, even though he had cut near that hive before with no problems.

I’m a little surprised the firefighters killed the hive. The bees must have still been pissed off swarming the paramedics.

ETA: Nevermind, that is exactly what happened per the article.

Also, judging by the state of the yard in that picture it might have been a while since he tried to mow there. Sad story.

Hicks’ wife, Zoni Hicks, told TV station KTAB that she had been out grocery shopping when she returned to find her husband screaming and covered in bees.

“You couldn’t even see his back and his whole head — he was just covered,” she said.

I'm praying for her.

I can't imagine the misery and grief she's going through coming home to a nightmare and losing her husband like that.

Lord help her.

shite, maybe they were killer bees. Here is the caption for this picture in the article:

quote:

This April 26, 2021, photo provided by the Breckenridge Fire Department in Breckenridge, Texas, shows BFD firefighter, Chad Skiles and beekeeper Joey Venekamp use foam to destroy a bee hive filled with an aggressive swarm of bees outside the home of Thomas Hicks, in Breckridge, Texas. Hicks died after going into cardiac arrest when he was attacked by the bees outside his home, authorities said. (Calvin Chaney/Breckenridge Fire Department via AP)AP

They had a beekeeper there but still killed it instead of trying to relocate the hive. Unless it’s just impossible to relocate a hive that’s inside of a dead tree?

frick all of that shite, hitting a yellow jacket nest while mowing is one of my legit fears.

I've done that before. Luckily, it was a relatively smallish nest. Took several attempts before I was finally able to kill them all off. Of course, I let them have their way with the neighbor's bitch dog first.

first horrible story I've read today, just hours after buying local honey at a farmer's market in Texas.

Wife’s quote doesn’t really make it seem like she is that sad tbh. You know if she was the black momma of a criminal shot by the police, they would’ve used the most emotional quote they received. Clown world.

Maybe she didn't say anything overly sad?

What kind of cuck do you have to be to take a story of some dude getting killed by a swarm of bees and making it about black people for literally no reason at all?

What, did they think they’d developed a taste for man flesh?

Were these honey bees or the dreaded KILLER BEES from the 90s? I mean, I suppose they were killer bees.

Sometimes beekeepers will kill a hive if they are uncontrollably aggressive. It's a measure of last resort, but I'd imagine in this case the widow wanted those damn bees gone immediately.

Anyone ever watch beehive removal videos? Those things are pretty amazing creatures.

I know a couple people in the beekeeping business, and I've had them remove hives and swarms on my property. You definitely have to know what you're doing, and follow the steps.

Had a massive hornet or bee hive by a large tree on the back of my property that was basically a giant looking mud ball that blended in very well. I didn't know about it and I slightly bumped it. The next thing I know I was getting stung multiple times and I turned the mower quickly away and hauled arse. I killed about 5 with my hands that were staying on me stinging. shite hurt like hell for the next 24-48 hours. I called a couple places and they wanted 200-300 for removal. 20 dollars later I had a torch connected to my full 5 gal propane tank and hit them at dusk when their activity slows down. Mother frickers were popping and having wings torched off as soon as they exited the hive.

Pro tip:

Hold your breath and sprint away in any direction, linear path.

Africanized honey bees, as well as honey bees, home in on CO2 trail...up to significant distances.

frick all of that shite, hitting a yellow jacket nest while mowing is one of my legit fears. Happened to my dad back when I was a kid and damn near killed him

Same thing happened to my dad(RIP). Ran over a hive on the mower. He jumped off that thing while it was literally still moving and ran up the hill onto our back porch(which was enclosed) before the bees could overtake him. I never saw him run so fast before or after that. He still got hit a couple of times. He was lucky.

Once things calmed down he went down, poured gas into the hole, left a gas trail up the hill, lit a match, and burned those bastards!

frick. That. shite.

It’s not about black people persay. It’s about media and about that emotionless quote they decided to include in their article instead of anything else that she said about the situation.

What kind of cuck do you have to be to get fired up about an innocuous observation that was made on a message board?
