To be fair, I have knowledge of a similar "auction" taking place at a sorority house back in the early 2000s and they were bidding on and trading guys in a black fraternity. It was fricking despicable and I loved every fricking minute of that swap.

I am in my 50's. I never did anything that stupid, but I thank God that there were no cell phones when I was in school.

My one black gf had a grandma who hated that I was white. Called me everything under the sun.
Her husband pulled me aside and said not to mind her, his grand daughter was worth it.
I assume he meant she was a great person, but he was right on so many more levels

There's a guy whom I played football with in high school who has only ever called me a racial epithet. And the only thing I've ever called him is the same.

Dude, they held a mock slave auction for their classmates. That's a bit different than calling your good buddy a racial epithet nickname.
Parents absolutely failed to instill respect and decency for all humans into their children. It isn't too late, but they absolutely failed. And any "good" parent would admit their failure.
