Huge differemce. His has a plug. ANd a CLOCK. That's the big read clock on top. He told them it was a clock. Like I said before, it should have gone like this:

School: WHat is that son? Someone said it looks like a bomb (chuckles)
Kid: It's a clock I made
School: Can you show us?
Kid: Sure, here's how it works.
School: Okay, just so no one freaks out, we are going to keep it here in the office. We'll even invite the teachers to look at it to see your work. You can get it after school today.

Problem solved.
Yet, they did quite a bit more than "checking into".

There has only been one side of the story that the media has grabbed and run with. There is a lot of additional information that has not been made public and cannot unless kids parents allow it. The Irving ISD cannot give "their side" of the story unless parents sign a waiver allowing it. I'd be shocked if parents did this, but if they are truly in the "right', then what's the harm??

Kid has already lawyered up and they are taking this countrywide faux outrage to the bank..

Sure they can. This is not governed by HIPAA

In that thread about the kid who got in trouble for asking the difference between negro and black, we're you one that defended his inquisitive nature or suspected he was trying to be a little smart arse?

Now, would you say it's possible this kid tried to be a little badass and build something that looked like a bomb and when busted played it off as simply making a brief case clock?

And once again, the "clock."



My brother used to have an electronics kit that he made a lot of things with, including a clock. His was a fraction of the size of this one, though. Of course, that was back in 1981, before electronics got all big and clunky.

So it's not possible in either the case that the kid had different intentions prior to getting busted?

I'm not saying it was handled correctly, but if he did bring that to show off or scare someone, a little scared straight situation isn't bad.

And that's exactly what a movie bomb looks like to a 14 year old.

SUre it is. It's also "possible" that the cops threatened him to say he was trying to do a bomb hoax to cover the school, but he stood by his story.

IMO, neither of those happened.

I foresee many lawsuits in this kids future adult life, when things don't go his way with his job. (i.e. get the promotion or the raise he feels he deserves)

What broader explanation? The Dallas Morning News asked the spokesman. If Ahmed made a clock and he said he made a clock, what more was there to explain?
