This hasn't needed to happen in the several of the cases where a school goes overboard with something like this. Why would it be needed here?

The facts are simple: Ahmed Mohammed, a 14- year-old at MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas, was led away from school in handcuffs and suspended three days because he brought to school a clock he'd made at home. Rather than say, "We were stupid," rather than say, "We're so afraid of terrorism that we freaked out over a clock made by a Muslim child," officials in Irving seem to be blaming that child for not anticipating their hysterical response to his project.

You can summarize their responses this way: "What are you crazy, Ahmed? Don't you know we scared of y'all?! How could you do this to us?"

When it's they who've done it to him.

Ahmed, a fan of robotics, made a clock. He reportedly showed it to one teacher who told him to put it away. Later another teacher freaked out about it and called in help.

"We have no information that he claimed it was a bomb," said Irving police spokesman James McClellan. "He kept maintaining it was a clock, but there was no broader explanation."

What broader explanation? The Dallas Morning News asked the spokesman. If Ahmed made a clock and he said he made a clock, what more was there to explain?

She should be fired. Pretty sure there are Muslims at Google, Oracle, Intel, Microsoft who make stuff every day without being a minor and arrested. It so fricked up.

This is the worst comparison of all-time. A psycho who killed children compared to a 14 year old student who made a clock? Jesus fricking Christ.

I can't believe people are still talking about this. One or two idiots deep in the heart of Texas do not require us all to reflect, repent, or even pause.

We are all sucked into to shite we don't have to know about nowdays.

A lot of you just need to keep running around in fear with your tin foil hats on while stockpiling nonperishables for your underground bomb shelters. It's comical.

Nice... There are extremists of all religions and we all pay the price for it. No matter where you live. Some more than others, no doubt.

Can we stop calling this thing a clock? He didn't build a clock,he built a fake bomb and slapped a clock on it and brought it to school.

No problem with the school checking it out and asking the kid to show them how it works. But that's not what happened, is it?

Don't let me see you or your kid with a backpack. I'll turn your arse in so quickly.

No question. It is easy for the intellectually challenged to have false arguments. I'm not going to disagree that Islam has a skewed amount of whackos, but McVeigh was a whacko Christian and committed the second worst terrorist attack on American soil.

If they really thought it was a bomb why didn't they evacuate the school? I mean, that would be the logical step #1, right?

Hey kid, can you bring the bomb looking thing you got there real close to me and show me how it works?

"oh hey Billy Whiteface, that's a neat homemade USB drive that looks like a switchblade. Can you show me how it works? Neat, well, go on about your day."

This would never happen, and you are basing your entire argument on the assumption that it would.

Sad you think that. I get it because you have been where most of us haven't. But, this wasn't a bomb, it was a promising young student doing a project.

Well maybe the school is really bad at bomb threat procedures. You really think that kid built a clock and put it in a briefcase with ball bearings innocently? He was trying for a reaction and he should be suspended at least. Hell, kids get suspended for making their pop tarts look like guns.

I'm pretty sure that's a bag of ball bearings in the suitcase. So unless his project was to make a fake bomb I'm not going to assume he's just a promising kid doing a project. I'm just finding out about this and I haven't read the thread.

I imagine at some point, and probably pretty quickly, they realized it wasn't a bomb and moved on to trying to figure out why the little turd thought it was cute to bring in a bomb like "clock."

Where does it say that he had ball bearings in the case?
