That's what really upsets me about this whole situation. It's one thing to be overly cautious in a situation like this and check out the item. However, every part of this situation seems like a bunch of people got all hyped up on the idea of "cracking the case" and busting a terrorist that when they realized it was really just a digital clock made by a 14 year old, their egos were hurt and needed some sort of boost.

A felony bomb hoax charge is something that would literally end this kids aspirations of pretty much anything he may want to do. Anyone who sees a Muslim kid with a bomb hoax charge is going to immediately judge him, and the fact that they saw that as alright to do to someone who had done nothing wrong is horrifying.

And whoever said you need a chemical explosion for the bomb to work and it'd be obvious if he had that and law enforcement would know exactly that?

Well, it takes like a golf ball size of C4 plastics to make a bomb and it's as simple as slipping 2 wires into that ball. That could be in the backpack in any compartment.

I bet they actually thought about this very carefully ahead of time. It would not be the first time someone staged something like this hoping someone would take the bait. Rosa Parks, for example, was handpicked for the role that would make her famous.

Activist groups set this sort of hook all the time to get attention, and people reliably fall for it.

How the heck is it horrifying? Like it or not, the images Americans see on the news, right or wrong, are of Muslims doing terrible things to one another. We just finished 2 wars over a decade which included suicide bombs and IED's. I don't understand what the hell your mad at, but smart or dumb, right or wrong, the average American Joe is seeing terrible images of Muslims.

For my personal belief, so Im not 'telling' people.... I believe its a cult and not a religion at all. I will take a nation built on a foundation of Christianity as its proven to build an empire that has lifted more people out of poverty and given more individuals rights than any nation in history. Its also given more global peace that any nation in history.

It's horrifying that they tried to charge an obviously innocent child with a crime that would ostensibly ruin his life and close many opportunities to him. If this doesn't appall you then your justice bone is broken, and I don't know what to say to you.

All of this has less than nothing to do with trying to charge an obviously innocent boy. Maybe tangentially it has something to do with investigating the boy. It is a ridiculous non sequitur.

It's bad police work that unfortunately seems to be typical from what I can tell.

I have no issue with them calling in authorities to check it out. I take issue with them treating him like a terrorist from the beginning and even after they confirmed it was completely harmless. It took social media to keep him from being charged for the most part.

Also, I said that authorities who have possession of said item would know it wasn't a bomb pretty quickly. In your scenario, it'd be a pretty bold move to wait until police arrive and are inspecting the object to pull out your C4 golf ball and attempt to pop in the wires and detonate. Not to mention, he'd already shown it to his Engineering teacher who knew it wasn't bad but advised against showing it to others out of fear that they would react negatively, which the English teacher who heard it beep and made him show her did.

Once again, I understand the caution and need to check the item to determine if it was a bomb or not. My issue lies with treating him like a terrorist and arresting him when they'd determined it wasn't a bomb. If someone tells you they built a clock and you confirm that it's just a clock, you don't arrest someone for a bomb hoax since it was never intended to be a bomb, look like a bomb, or anything of the nature. If that device is "suspicious", every person who has ever messed with electronics has got suspicious items lying around their home.

This is a case of fear, a hint of racism, and a lack of knowledge of basic electronics creating momentary hysteria. At no point did anyone ever hold themselves accountable and just attempt to explain why they did it or issue any apologies for the extent of the incident. If this was any of your children, you would be furious that his little harmless hobby got him arrested, embarrassed, and everything else.

You guys better not open your computers up because there's an item that looks like a pretty high-quality bomb in there. There's going to be a circuit board, a power supply of some sort, and a display all in a chassis or some sort of case meant to house it. Don't be alarmed, though. It's completely safe.

it describes an imaginary society that is as dehumanizing and as unpleasant as possible.

Where did I go wrong with you... Maybe I did as you damn sure can't define anything at all but base words...

As I noted above, if this was a deliberate attempt to stir shite then it really kinda was a hoax bomb. I'd bet good money someone at CAIR set this whole thing up just like any activist group would.

I can't say I blame them for setting bait like that, it obviously worked.

I'm not sure. Even then, it'd be inaccurate. If anything, I'd consider my response to this whole debacle and disappointment over the treatment of this boy as too much of a utopian dream. In my mind, they should have apologized for the extent to which it went while expressing that they were taking every necessary precaution to protect everyone involved.

When issues like this arise and everyone chooses a side, people seem to forget that this person still exists and will have to continue life with all of the good and bad that comes with it. In this situation, a kid almost being labelled as a terrorist or giving him a felony pretty much ruins his life without the exposure it got. That's a pretty big deal.

First of all, I am not a society so your application of the word is still completely wrong. Secondly, I am literally defending the rights and feelings of the kid, and you're accusing me of being dehumanizing and unpleasant. I don't feel like I need to explain much more to make it clear that you still don't know what you're talking about.

Chicken.

What about the other school children who have been subject to this orchestrated event?

You know the black kids, the Hispanic kids, the white kids and their parents whose lives have been turned upside down by this non event if it is as you say?

frick that little prick who had on a NASA shirt (you think that's an accident?) STFU...

The media was laying in wait to perpetuate a hate America agenda for this pawn and you Sir a playing the part.

Syntax remember this tool I asked you to apply?

You're still crap and muddled.

Would you feel better if I applied a more pedestrian term?

Exept that's not what happaned.

School: WHat is that son? Someone said it looks like a bomb (chuckles)
Kid: It's a clock I made
School: Can you show us?
Kid: Sure, here's how it works.
School: Okay, just so no one freaks out, we are going to keep it here in the office. We'll even invite the teachers to look at it to see your work. You can get it after school today.

Problem solved.

There is nothing wrong with his syntax.

Your use of the word dystopian is imprecise at best and in actuality is just an attempt at being flippant.

You are the definition of pretentious.

Nope I was correct, but feel free in disagreeing.

I also took him down from a three thousand worded muddled frickness into a one paragraph of muddled frickness.

Pit Boss...

Drinking and grilling have diminished my cognitive abilities for the moment and as I see a Chicken sighting I'm booking out!
