I just can't fricking get over the fact that they handcuffed him. And not when they were still unsure what was going on... after interviewing him. While they drove him to the police station. A 14 year old in the back of a squad car in handcuffs. That's some sick, sick shite.
The first time I was in handcuffs it was for cheering at a football game after being warned not to stand up - Colorado vs. Alabama Independence Bowl, CU got a rare first down. It was a helpless feeling that I wouldn't wish on an innocent 14 year old.

I think you grossly overestimate the IQ of the average english teacher and police officer.

Nobody wants to look at the facts as presented.
Ahkmoods father is a well known Muslim activist known for pranks such as this. Caterpillar says inadmissible....
Ahkmood used passive aggressive tactics when question by the principal/ teacher and police when sequestered in the office at school. Caterpillar says inadmissible because he's brown skinned....
Ahkmood against the advice of the electronics teacher who covered for him initially and will be fired when this is all said and done took the device into another class and plugged the case into the wall where it chimed instead of blowing up causing the sequence of events.
Some of you are just drop dead stupid....
The little stunt was the Jihadist father acting out through the child putting a thumb in every eye of the 9-11 victims families and our service men who have been blown to smithereens by these IED's.

Hopefully this would be a death knell for zero tolerance, but it won't be. If finger guns and pop-tart guns can fly as "dangerous weapons" then people are always going to scream this was right too.
Heads should hopefully roll for this. As people have already posted a real bomb and a "Movie bomb" have only the second word in common. It's a CD case with wiring in it for crying out loud.
Have the resource cop come look at it, fine.
Maybe ask the first period teacher why he didn't write a note for the kid or say "Good job, let me hold on to that for you." Since he had misgivings.
Give the kid after school detention for causing a class disruption with a home made alarm clock. Maybe get that first period teacher in on it so it's less punishment but more about common sense and extracurricular.
But don't be the principal that panics over nothing and don't be the cop that thinks slapping cuffs on a nerd who's just applying himself is a good idea.
Whatever happened to the Texans that fricked the Mexicans? What happened to the Texans that Lee praised?

Get it together before you become all the worst parts of California.
At least the cops aren't trying to charge anything.
